Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laboratory Technician to join our Toxicology Department. In this role, you will be responsible for performing toxicology-specific laboratory testing, maintaining quality control processes, troubleshooting specialized equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, accountability, and a dedication to excellence in toxicology laboratory operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct clinical toxicology urine testing, including screening and confirmation methods, as well as other testing procedures established within the toxicology department.
  • Perform test procedures on patient specimens in strict adherence to the Section’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Analyze, review, and interpret test results to ensure analytical integrity, identifying and resolving any inconsistencies.
  • Perform and document Quality Control procedures to maintain compliance and ensure test accuracy within control limits.
  • Initiate corrective actions for incomplete, inconclusive, or inaccurate testing data.
  • Maintain the operational status of major automated equipment by performing routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing new procedures and equipment to keep the laboratory aligned with current advancements in toxicology technology.
  • Participate in continuing education, training, and teaching opportunities to enhance technical skills and meet Section Performance Standards.
  • Manage inventory of reagents and laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to toxicology laboratory operations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed within the scope of the position.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline)
  • No prior experience required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle instruments and perform precise tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
