IT Project Manager at Akumen, Inc. – Washington, District of Columbia

Overview:

Akumen, Inc. seeks dynamic, self-motivated individuals with experience as a Project Manager. who can work closely with customers and serve as a liaison to a team of experienced Project Managers and System Engineers.

This role is mostly remote with some on-site work located in Washington, DC. Candidates must reside in DC/MD/VA and possess an active DOD/DSS Secret clearance (interim acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Helps manage project change and configuration processes by managing change requests, reviewing open issues, updating configuration baselines, and communicating essential information to the project team and stakeholders
• Coordinates with development team resources and government customers to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and mandates, and to ensure application support and development activities are streamlined
• Assists in the successful execution of the program testing process and testing activities
• Assists with the management and optimization of service delivery processes and service agreements and analyzes IT operation metrics for problems and opportunities
• Helps establish IT project plans, including project purpose, objectives, technical approach, and schedules
• Supports the creation and maintenance of program documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures, Test Plans, Reference Guides, Training Guides, etc.
• Supports the administration of SharePoint and the program's document repository
• Travel and off-hours work may be required, though minimal

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, or IT Management (or equivalent related field experience)
• PMP certification required
• 4+ years of experience in the Information Technology field
• 3+ years of experience in writing technical documents
• 3+ years of experience in a client facing role; federal clients preferred
• Knowledge of developing, implementing, and monitoring IT program and project delivery
• Proficiency in MS Office Proficiency with MS Office Suite, and SharePoint
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and apply new skills and approaches, team player
• Strong communication (written and oral), presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Able to take initiative, manage own workload, and assume responsibility for tasks
• Able to multitask, handle multiple projects, and meet internal and client deadlines
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and innovative thinking

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in Agile/SCRUM environments
• ScrumMaster (CSM) certification
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Familiarity with MS Project and ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM)

Clearance Requirement:

• Active Secret or Top-Secret government security clearance
