DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acquaints all patients with the office procedures to which they will be exposed.
Informs patients of the purpose of all tests performed, and how they will be affected.
Scribes for the doctors as part of their daily assignments.
Performs visual acuity, manual lensometry, confrontational visual fields, stereo testing, evaluation of motility, pupillary function tests, color plates, applanation tonometry, fundus photography, other tasks specific to physician needs.
Performs administrative duties which include keeping exposed lenses, mirrors and prisms clean, maintaining sanitary conditions in diagnostic and procedure rooms as well as keeping them stocked, and maintaining par levels of replacement inventory.
Performs additional duties based on level of Ophthalmic Technician.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to be personable, empathetic, well-organized, and detail-oriented.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of electronic medical records, NextGen (preferred).
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma/GED.
Experience working in a fast-paced setting (i.e. food service industry or healthcare).
Medical assistant training/certification (preferred).
Medical assistant experience 2 years (preferred).
1-2 years related to eye care experience (preferred for higher level Ophthalmic Technicians).
Completion of Ophthalmic Assistant Home Study test or possess current JCAHPO certification (preferred for higher level Ophthalmic Technicians).
Previous experience scribing for a doctor (preferred for higher level Ophthalmic Technicians).
Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of state-required auto insurance.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in an ophthalmology setting. This is a full time position with a benefits package. Hourly rate will be determined based on experience and training of the candidate. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.
POSITION LOCATION: EYE-Q Vision Care practice sites are located in Fresno, Clovis, and Selma.
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (may work occasional Saturdays)
PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on skills, experience, and certifications.
