Job Summary:
Mustang Freightways Ltd. is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team out of our Calgary terminal. The Business Development Manager is responsible for prospecting sales and qualifying leads for new and existing accounts. They will be naturally curious, results-driven, and eager to bring our services to new markets. This person will act as a liaison between our customer and our company. The Business Development Manager will be the Freight Specialist/Coach for our customers and potential customers. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with new and existing customers. 60% new customers and 40% existing customers.
- Contact and qualify leads - Prospect new sales leads by making an initial phone or email contact.
- Manage current accounts – Stay in close contact with existing accounts or leads.
- Customer support – Answer calls and emails from clients, identify the issue and make suggestions for the future.
- Follow up on pricing requests.
- Complete administration work and notes daily.
- Work with team and pass leads on when necessary.
- Build relationships with internal departments.
- Other duties/projects on an as needed basis.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls).
- Proven ability to close sales in person.
- Intense follow up skills.
- “Think outside of the box” attitude.
- Able to “read” prospective clients.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Familiarity with MS Excel (analyzing spreadsheets and charts).
- Understanding of sales performance metrics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Positive and professional attitude.
Training and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of sales experience is required.
