Fibertek is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community, with key contributions to lasers for atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar sensors for NASA, DoD, and commercial customers.

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Herndon, VA. The QA Specialist is responsible for ensuring components meet the requirements of the drawings and PO. The QA Specialist is also responsible for supporting the Quality Management System and Safety Program. This role involves inspection of materials, monitoring lab areas, and verifying compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform detailed inspections of incoming materials and some in-process components.
• Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
• Interpret technical drawings and use measuring equipment to evaluate parts.
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
• Identify and document nonconformances and initiate nonconformance reports and corrective action requests.
• Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and program teams to resolve quality issues.
• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, government regulations, and industry best practices.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance
• Ability to visually inspect parts with or without glasses or magnifying devices
• Sufficient dexterity to measure parts using hand tools
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of inspection experience
• Experience with reading and interpreting technical drawings
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or Certified Quality Auditor
• Experience conducting internal audits
• Familiarity with Nonconformance and Corrective Action software
