About This Position
Be part of something meaningful as an LPN (PRN) in our unique eight-bed hospice facility located within a beautifully restored Victorian home. This intimate setting gives you the opportunity to form genuine connections while providing hands-on nursing care alongside dedicated teammates. Together, you’ll ensure every resident experiences comfort, dignity, and the warmth of a homelike atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide nursing care to Hospice residents and oversee nursing assistants.
- Team Collaboration: Work with the team to identify patient care needs.
- Communication: Report changes in residents' conditions to the relevant medical staff.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records in EMR.
- Support Tasks: Assist with food preparation, housekeeping, and complete various administrative tasks.
- Policy Adherence: Follow personnel policies and maintain safety and infection control standards.
- Medication Management: Manage medication orders, perform narcotic counts, and ensure proper medication handling.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Two years of nursing experience required.
- Emotionally mature and caring individual willing to give support and assistance to terminally ill and their families.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in word processing software or EMR.
- Driver’s license, personal automobile, and current automobile liability insurance.
Typical Physical Demands/Working Conditions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend, reach, lift and walk, climb steps
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push up to 200 pounds in a wheelchair.
- Due to the nature of services provided, it may be necessary at times for employees to work beyond scheduled work hours to ensure adequate patient care.
