Position Summary
The MIH Dispatcher coordinates and dispatches the MIH team across all service lines, ensuring timely, clinically appropriate responses aligned with Mercy Flights’ operational standards, medical direction, and CAMTS guidelines.
This role functions as the operational hub for Mobile Integrated Healthcare services — managing triage support, response assignments, live tracking, real-time communication, and documentation. The position requires sound judgment, strong situational awareness, and strict adherence to established clinical protocols.
What You’ll Do
Clinical & Triage Support
- Receive referrals from approved access points including 911 diversion, emergency departments, care teams, payer partners, and direct outreach.
- Determine eligibility for in-home emergency care or mobile crisis response.
- Route patients to the appropriate level of care based on clinical need — not operational convenience.
- Verify patient identity, insurance, consent, and ensure EHR accuracy.
Dispatch & Operations Coordination
- Assign MIH field teams based on acuity, geography, availability, and scope of practice.
- Track providers in CAD and maintain real-time situational awareness.
- Monitor ETAs, team status, and active field responses.
- Coordinate with EMS, hospitals, law enforcement, and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in dispatch, public safety, EMS operations, healthcare coordination, or related field required.
- Associate’s degree in Paramedicine or equivalent education and experience required to obtain:
- Oregon Paramedic License
- Transitional Paramedic License
- OHA Reciprocity
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Oregon Paramedic License (or Transitional/Reciprocity eligible)
- National Registry Paramedic (for Transitional/Reciprocity eligible)
- Oregon Driver’s License
Preferred:
- Experience in Mobile Integrated Healthcare, ED-at-Home, or population health models.
- Familiarity with CAD systems or response tracking platforms.
- Experience in accredited or accreditation-seeking programs.
- Experience with Flight Vector.
