The Role:
The Sr. Engineer, Solutions Design is responsible for applying analytical, modeling and problem-solving skills for the design and delivery of innovative, customer-centric cold storage and warehouse and truck/parcel transportation solutions. This role plays a critical part in translating client requirements into scalable operating models, facility layouts, transportation networks, and technology-enabled solutions. The Sr Engineer partners closely with Sales, Operations, and clients to analyze tenders, develop proposals, support implementations, and provide customer-specific support during ‘run’ operations that are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of customer satisfaction.
This position requires a blend of technical depth, quantitative and Excel expertise, operational engineering expertise, project coordination, technical problem solving, and strong communication skills in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Perform data cleanup, validation, and analysis to support warehouse and cold chain solution development.
- Extract data from internal systems and external customer sources, and format the data for use in operational, financial, and engineering analyses.
- Develop optimization and simulation models to solve transportation and warehouse design problems, including capacity planning, labor modeling, process optimization, and cost tradeoffs.
- Build, develop, and maintain reusable analytical models that can be leveraged for future or expanded solution efforts.
- Apply foresight to anticipate future operating scenarios and ensure the credibility, accuracy, and scalability of modeling logic and assumptions.
- Support RFP and proposal responses by collecting, summarizing, and analyzing input data to support the customer value proposition.
- Assist in the preparation of internal and customer-facing presentations by producing process and layout visuals, charts, analyses, and supporting materials that clearly communicate key insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with other engineers and cross functional teams to ensure analytical outputs align with overall solution intent and customer requirements.
- Ad hoc analytic work to support strategic initiatives in healthcare, full-service e-commerce product offering (fulfillment, parcel, technology, etc.), and other projects as needed.
Requirements of the Position:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or equivalent education.
- Minimum three (3) years of engineering experience in a warehouse environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in Excel, Power BI, AutoCAD, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for customer-facing engagements.
- Experience with cold-chain or temperature-sensitive fulfillment environments.
- Familiarity with automation technologies and distributed order management systems.
- Advanced data analysis skills for performance optimization and anomaly detection.
- Preference for experience with transportation analyses – over the road full truck load and parcel
- Preference for experience with healthcare sector supply chains and regulatory requirements
Work Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Strongly prefer full-time onsite working out of the RealCold facility, in Lakeland, FL (between Tampa and Orlando)
- Hours vary depending on deadlines and needs of the company
- Willing to travel about 25%
Work Environment:
Works in a cold storage company with occasional exposure to low to below-zero temperatures. This job may involve occasional exposure to some disagreeable elements such as dust, noise, etc. Accidents are improbable other than minor injuries. The environment may be fast paced at times. You may occasionally be working around moving machines, order pickers, and forklifts.
