Job Description
Job Summary:
Responsible for fabrication of Built up and structural steel according to shop prints, and for meeting quality standards.
Essential Functions:
- Read shop plans accurately.
- Weld and make cuts on beams
- Operate crane and lifting devices to move materials.
- Maintain compliance with all Red Dot Corporation policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
- Perform special assignments and other duties as required.
- Have a working knowledge of Red Dot’s WPS’ to ensure proper placement of materials for compliance.
Training Requirements:
· Must be able to read shop drawings.
· Must be able to use required equipment.
· Must be able to read a tape measure.
· Must be trained to use crane safely.
· Must be trained to Red Dot’s safety manual.
Non-essential Functions:
Support safety and productivity improvement projects for fabrication shop.

Hours of Work:
Regular hours: 40 hours per week.
Overtime: As required.

Experience and Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Five years’ experience fitting, preferred.
- Prior experience reading blueprints preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, communicate with people in situations with some background noise.
- Requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with frequent interruption; ability to focus attention on tasks for 10-20 minutes at a time on a continuous basis, 20-60 minutes on occasion.
- Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
- Requires ability to work under some supervision.
- Requires ability to operate equipment, make measurements, and follow prints.
- Requires physical capability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Requires ability to operate various types of cranes and lifting devices.
- Requires ability to work in a shop environment where it is noisy.
- Requires bending, stooping, and standing top operate machine throughout shift.
- Sufficient good health to properly discharge duties required.
- Requires ability to weld.
- Requires ability to use basic trigonometry to make and figure cuts.
- Work deals mostly with areas such as reading data and prints, tape measures, squares and visual inspection involving small details.
