The Purchasing Expediter is responsible for supporting materials planning, purchasing, and inventory management activities to ensure the timely availability of goods and services critical to operations. The position plays an active role in inventory optimization, supply and demand monitoring, part number assignment, compliance documentation, and reporting. The Purchasing Expediter is expected to maintain strong attention to detail, uphold quality and documentation standards, pursue ongoing professional development, complete all required training, and consistently demonstrate SSM values and behaviors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and, in the event of problems, trace shipments and follow up on undelivered goodsMaintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventoriesMaintain inventory levels properly taking into account inventory investment, purchasing efficiencies, QC test requirements and risk of obsolescencePurchase supplies and materials according to specificationsPrepare purchase orders and review requisitions for goods and servicesAssisting logistics with count reconciliations/ transactionsExpedite purchase orders with vendors as neededWork with QC, Project Management, Process Engineering and Sales to determine the need for and assigning part numbersPrimary MSLR creation/ COA obtainmentProvide materials planning and ad hoc reports to respond to client and management needsMonitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures marketsPlay an active role in establishing and updating the production schedule on a weekly basisStudy sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate employee access to suppliesConfer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective actionScanning pack slips, filing POsAttend and complete all mandatory trainingMaintain continued education and proficiency in field through education, literature and seminarsDemonstrate SSM values and behaviors at all timesOther duties as assigned

Experience
Minimum of one (1) years relevant experience
Education
Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent computer skills
Advanced Excel skills/ spreadsheet software
Experience with MRP/ERP (Enterprise resource planning) SAP software
Strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines
Familiarity with GMP requirements a strong plus
Well-organized
Ability to maintain attention to detail while executing multiple tasks
Ability to manage timelines to meet department goals
Maintain control and confidentiality of documents and information
