Description:

CNC Set-Up Technician (1st Shift)

Job Summary: Design and develop programs. Set-up, check programs and operate CNC machines to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations to meet precise tolerance/finish requirements.

Schedule: 1st Shift: 6:00am - 4:00pm (Monday - Thursday; with overtime scheduled as needed)

Essential Duties

  • Work from instructions to define in detail tooling, fixtures, and machine arrangements
  • Mount and secure tooling and holding fixtures, set stops, calibrate fixtures to appropriate reference points
  • Manually cycle through operation sequence to check fixtures, work position, tooling, clearance, and speed/feeds
  • Select proper tooling setting/adjustments
  • Manually program short runs/special jobs
  • Set-up and instruct operators and diagnose operating difficulties
  • Make periodic operation checks to assure proper machining operations
  • Adjust machines to correct deviations and program specifications, and make adjustments to bring tolerances within specifications
  • Study operations and equipment used in production process and recommend new methods and/or equipment to increase efficiency
  • Coordinate operational process sheets and quality checking requirements
  • Assure cost sheets are current and reflect appropriate production methods/times
  • Work from drawings, process sheets, etc.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:

General Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience with CNC machinery and set up of machining fixtures
  • 1+ years of experience with Mori Seiki machinery
  • Requires general knowledge of machining fundamentals and basic operation skills, shop arithmetic, print reading and measuring procedures
  • Ability to understand, interpret and edit Fanuc G-Code Programming
  • Horizontal set-up experience
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior

Physical Requirements

  • Work in high temperature areas
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Walking long distances
  • Bending and twisting
  • Lift up to 50lbs
