Nasittuq Corporation (from the Inuktitut word meaning “looking out from the highest point”) operates and maintains the North Warning System (NWS), a critical joint Canada-US radar network with 47 sites across Northern Canada.

SCOPE
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Safely operate standard construction and heavy equipment (front end loaders, dozers, graders, trucks, dump truck, forklift, snow blower)
- Maintain roads, run-ways, grounds and gravel surfaces to ensure safe route passage
- Perform daily checks prior to vehicle use
- Assist with the Mobile Support Equipment (MSE) maintenance/repairs and document maintenance routines
- Clean vehicles, perform fuel dips, fuel transfers and assist with sea lift material delivery
- Assist in the loading and unloading of helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as required
- Shovelling snow/grounds and operating snowblower
- Respond to site preservation emergencies and environmental emergencies
- Identify maintenance requirements to the LSS Manager/Site Supervisor/delegate
- Provide assistance to the Facilities Maintenance Technician-Vehicle Mechanic in conducting Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and other trades as required when directed by LSS Manager/Site Supervisor/delegate
- Possess sound work ethics and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel as part of a small team to adjacent sites to perform HEO functions when requested
WHO YOU ARE:
Education:
- Grade 9 or a combination of education and 5 years directly related experience.
- Standard First Aid trained with CPR Level A (with valid certificate) preferred
Licenses:
- Licensed Heavy Equipment Operator with Air Brake (DZ) certification
- Valid Class G license.
- Operators of GFE MSE must complete a Safe Backing Course
- Operators of GFE MSE being operated on airport ramps or runways must be authorized to do so by the appropriate Airport Authority
Experience:
- Skilled in safely operating heavy equipment (dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, snow blower etc.) and maintaining roads and runways
- Must be experienced or trained on driving vehicles with attached trailers
Knowledge of:
- Truck and equipment safety
- Water, sewer, and garbage truck operation
- Operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, snow blowers and other pieces of heavy equipment
- Equipment maintenance and storage
- Road construction and maintenance techniques
- Equipment safety, road maintenance, and vehicle operation in Arctic conditions.
- Record keeping systems (computerized)
Skills:
- Problem-solving, effective communication, and time management.
- Experience with MS Word and Excel.
