Position Summary:

Veterans Upward Bound Education Specialist is responsible for VUB activities, including workshops, individual and group career counseling, providing information on post secondary opportunities, and assisting with completion of college admission applications and financial aid forms.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Computer technology skills required
• VUB requires travel in south Arkansas, nights and weekends
• This position is supervised by the VUB Assistant Director the HSU TRiO Director

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Specific knowledge of career counseling, educational opportunities, and financial aid.

General Days/Hours:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Other hours/days as assigned.
Weekends and evenings required.

The VUB education Specialist is a 12-month position

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with credits toward the completion of a Master's degree accepted.
Two years of experience working with disadvantaged populations and veterans
One year of military experience in classroom management, assessment, and technology proficient.

Master's degree in counseling, social work, education, or related areas preferred.

Military experience accepted.
