Job Summary
Performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties in support of Wound Healing - Leitchfield. Job Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors, answers/screens/routes telephone calls, files, and distributes mail.
- Completes less routine and detailed work assignments.
- Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care.
- Produces and maintains various reports, surveys, and documents for unit staff; photocopies and distributes and/or files as necessary.
- Transcribes and enters physicians' orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse; asks for clarification when necessary.
- Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
- Processes internal and external requests from physicians' offices, nursing stations, and other departments.
- Performs duties of purchasing agent for the department through requisition entry, equipment inventory, and record keeping in accordance with budget guidelines.
- Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Maintains assigned calendar(s).
- May assist with staff scheduling as directed.
- Maintains work area and related supplies and equipment.
- Assists with evaluating the office environment, revising procedures, improving efficiency of workflow, and initiating cost reduction programs.
- Performs patient placement duties for admissions and transfers in coordination with House Supervisor, UR nurse, and environmental services as assigned.
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
- A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience required
- No licensure/certification/registration required
- Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Works under general supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.
