POSITION OVERVIEW
-
The Medical Social Worker provides casework services to patients across the lifespan, assisting patients and their families in arranging post-hospital care, end-of-life decision making, adoption services and other psychosocial support, appropriately using internal and external resources. This position also functions as a patient advocate, representing the interest of the patient in the hospital system.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent Bachelor's degree

Experience:

Minimum of one year hospital-based experience preferred

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Ability to apply critical thinking in a variety of situations

Counseling skills

Time management capabilities

Effective communication skills with all levels of staff
