Undergraduate Psychology/

Social Work Intern

To learn about the fields of psychology and special education by supporting and observing students with Autism and Developmental Disabilities in a classroom setting while under the supervision of certified and licensed professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS

(REQUIRED):

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a major in psychology, social work, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with a collaborative multidisciplinary team to support the implementation of each student’s IEP and Behavior Support Plan.

• Observe group therapy sessions and other related service sessions (i.e. physical therapy, occupational therapy) as appropriate.

• Interview and observe other professionals (based upon interest) including BCBAs, speech-language therapists, occupational and physical therapists.

• Complete a clinical case study.

• Participate in regular individual and group clinical supervision.

• For students interested in advocacy:

  • Observe advocacy efforts by attending relevant meetings such as state and national coalition meetings via zoom.

  • Meet with the Director of Development and the Director of Communications, & Community Relations.

  • Assist with an advocacy project.

• Attend internship orientation and other relevant training as assigned by your supervisor.

• Comply with all policies and procedures of Spectrum360.

• Follow all recommendations of administration.

• Follow all directives of the Executive Director/CEO and Principal, correcting areas relating to performance identified by immediate supervisor.
