You will lead the technical direction of a critical macOS cloud platform supporting millions of developers and billions of automated workflows.
Working across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and developer tooling, you will solve complex engineering challenges with significant impact.
As a senior technical leader, you will influence architecture, drive engineering excellence, and mentor teams while delivering highly reliable solutions.
You will own large-scale platform improvements from early design through production operations, ensuring scalability, performance, and resilience.

Accountabilities:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for a large-scale macOS cloud platform, driving architecture, implementation, reliability, and operational excellence. You will collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions while raising technical standards across the organization.

  • Design, develop, test, and deliver high-quality software solutions that scale across multiple services and platforms.
  • Take ownership of the systems you build, ensuring maintainability, reliability, security, and long-term operational health.
  • Define technical direction for the macOS platform and drive architecture decisions from concept through implementation and ongoing improvement.
  • Write architecture proposals, technical documentation, and experimental solutions to validate new approaches.
  • Design and implement APIs and platform capabilities that enable seamless integration between software components.
  • Build and improve CI/CD workflows, automation pipelines, and developer infrastructure.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders to align technical solutions with product goals, business priorities, and cost considerations.
  • Establish testing strategies, success metrics, and quality standards to ensure reliable and performant systems.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
  • Participate in operational excellence initiatives, including incident response, observability improvements, and on-call rotations.
  • Use debugging tools, telemetry, and performance analysis techniques to identify issues and optimize systems.
  • Drive technical roadmap initiatives by evaluating emerging technologies and improving platform capabilities.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced software engineer with strong expertise in large-scale systems, cloud infrastructure, and technical leadership. You should have a proven ability to design complex solutions, influence engineering direction, and deliver reliable production software.

  • 9+ years of experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline with experience delivering and maintaining production software.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered, including relevant associate, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral degrees, or practical industry experience.
  • Strong programming experience in one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
  • Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-based architectures.
  • Experience building or supporting CI/CD systems and developer productivity platforms at scale.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, microservices, and system reliability principles.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python and modern engineering tools and platforms.
  • Experience with cloud environments and cloud-native concepts is preferred.
  • Experience developing for macOS or iOS platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with observability tools, telemetry systems, and performance optimization is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and engineering teams on complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, providing 24/7 coverage for designated periods.
