Job Summary
As an employee with TCM, you will work directly with one of our valued clients (more than likely, it will be at the project site). Schedulers are expected to demonstrate technical expertise and function as a subject matter expert. Depending on the project and the client, you might have a team that reports to you in order to effectively carry out your scope of work.
A construction cost estimator prepares estimates for the costs of construction projects, such as buildings, roads, and bridges. We are looking for a detail-oriented construction estimator to advise on the foreseeable cost of each of our major developments. To this end, the construction estimator should obtain all relevant project specifications, determine the most appropriate building materials, and secure favorable prices on all resources. They should also inspect trends in construction to determine whether your estimates are both reasonable and competitive.
Construction cost estimators work closely with architects, engineers, and vendors to calculate costs. They may specialize in estimating costs for one construction trade, such as electrical, or for a specific type of construction project, such as civil engineering or structural.
Job Responsibilities:
· Work with RG/ TCM to help Owner set initial budgets for all projects
· Oversee cost estimates presented by PM firms during design at varioud design deliverables
· Oversee cost changes processed by other PM firms during construction.
· Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
· Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
· Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
· Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
· Develops bids for construction projects.
· Works closely with architects and other professionals.
· Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff.
· Navigates and understands building codes.
· Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.
· Monitors construction processes.
· Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
· Ability to navigate specifications and plans
· Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects
· Ability to handle multiple assignments at once
· Knowledge of the latest building codes
· Close attention to detail
· Demonstrable experience as a construction estimator.
· Ability to forecast the cost of high-ticket, involved building developments.
· Knowledge of relevant technical and nontechnical documents.
· Exceptional quantitative skills.
· Outstanding research and proposal writing skills.
· Dependable, conscientious, and well-spoken.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Degree in mechanical engineering, architecture, mathematics or a similar field is required
· At least 5 years of related experience is required
