MEP Superintendent
Buffalo, NY

We’re looking for a driven MEP Superintendent to join our team in Buffalo. This role is responsible for overseeing daily on-site MEP construction operations and assisting site superintendent with general site management while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent will serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, fostering collaboration and building long-term business relationships.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
• Manage daily on-site MEP construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to Christa Construction’s quality standards.
• Enforce safety policies, maintain a clean building and job site, and hold subcontractors accountable.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and utility providers to maintain smooth project operations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, schedules, submittals, and as-built drawings.
• Drive project schedules through critical path planning, three-week lookaheads, and proactive material coordination.
• Review and approve subcontractor and supplier scopes of work, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Lead preconstruction meetings, owner updates, and project commissioning activities.
• Ensure quality control across all construction phases, from sitework to finishes.
• Track and maintain tools, equipment, and material deliveries to support uninterrupted project progress.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and verify material needs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and document all required project inspections with local authorities, third-party agencies, and insurance representatives.
• Present project updates and status reports at owner meetings, ensuring clear and professional communication.
• Support and mentor field staff by modeling professionalism, accountability, and adherence to Christa Construction’s standards.
• Maintain an up-to-date and posted set of contract documents to ensure all work is performed in alignment with current project requirements.
• Proactively address and resolve project challenges, ensuring issues are managed to completion without delays.
• Prepare and maintain accurate daily reports, including site photos.
• Complete and submit monthly site safety training logs and reports.
• Document and report all major deliveries, meetings, and personnel on site.
• Submit proper incident and accident reports within 24 hours of occurrence.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
• Thorough understanding of the plumbing trade and process, mechanical trades and process, electrical trade and process and all fire prevention/ sprinkler trade work.
• Ability to write and manage the MEP RFI process.
• Ability to direct and manage MEP BIM coordination.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply contract documents, building codes, and submittal requirements.
• Comprehensive understanding of trade work, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection.
• Experience managing public utility installations, including design review, approvals, and easement processes.
• Ability to determine appropriate crew sizes and coordinate trades to maintain productivity across critical paths.
• Capable of effectively leading subcontractor meetings, tracking action items, and facilitating project communication.
• Strong awareness of and adherence to safety protocols to minimize risk of injury on-site.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements and unforeseen challenges.
• Experienced in the full submittal process including review.
• Understands building codes as they apply to the MEP/ fire prevention trades.
Work Environment:
• Frequently required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Frequent exposure to noisy conditions.
• Prolonged use of a computer, typing, viewing display screens and mobile phone.
• Frequently required to type for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work irregular hours to meet the needs of the business to achieve required performance.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• Adequate vision for reading plans, inspecting work, and ensuring safety compliance.
• Frequently required to climb stairs and ladders.
• Adequate hearing to recognize warnings and communicate effectively in noisy environments.
• Frequently required to bend, kneel, or reach to perform various tasks and inspect different site areas.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5-10 years of construction or related experience preferred OR equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• OSHA 10 required
• OSHA 30 preferred.
Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000
