Function of Position:
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Facilities, reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President (CFO/VP), Administrative Services. With authority delegated by the CFO/VP, the AVP directs essential aspects of the division's facilities operations to support the College's overall mission, strategic plan, and goals. The AVP is responsible for the management of all functions related to facilities services. The AVP promotes and sustains the division's commitment to excellence and innovation in serving a diverse student body and college community. The AVP assists the division in responding to emerging issues, trends, and community needs, providing internal leadership that supports MCC's regional and national reputation as a leader among best practices colleges.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reports directly to CFO/VP
- Exercises delegated authority from the CFO/VP
- Directs or performs essential operations related to planning, maintenance, and life cycle analysis for physical space, facilities, infrastructure and utilities; and serves as lead and liaison to internal and external parties on all construction projects
- Provides leadership and management for Facilities: Facilities Operations, including Energy Management; Business Operations; Custodial Operations; Capital Planning and Project Management; Environmental Health and Safety; and Sustainability.
- Develops, interprets, and manages adherence to policies, procedures and regulations
- Exercises budget authority and administrative approvals
- Provides and coordinates development opportunities for staff
- Works collaboratively with the campus community, faculty, staff, and students to create a culture of student engagement and success
- Develops and sustains productive and collaborative relationships across divisions and with other college constituencies
- Plans, coordinates and implements Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects with college department personnel, the budget office, county representatives and vendors; serves as liaison to county engineering/environmental services
- Manages the development of the college's Facilities Master Plan and monitors related progress
- Serves as a liaison to college committees and initiatives as appropriate
- Prepares annual report on the goals and accomplishments of the Facilities area

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a regionally accredited higher education institution, and five or more years of related professional experience
- Minimum of five years of progressive administrative experience leading facilities operations within a complex, multi-unit higher education institution or similarly complex organization
- Experience in working with community, governmental, and other public sector agencies
- Evidence of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate partnerships and to work with diverse groups of faculty, students, and staff on complex issues
- Ability to integrate data into decision-making to promote effective practice and policy
- Demonstrated leadership experience with supervisory responsibility of managers that resulted in enhancements to your department or institution and your staff
- Clear, concise abilities in both oral and written communication as well as strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Experience in facilities planning to include master plans and capital improvement plans
- Experience with all phases of major projects from concept through design development, bidding, construction, and closeout
- A demonstrable reputation for the highest standards of ethical and moral leadership
- Ability to understand and apply New York State Building Code as well as all pertinent mechanical codes relating to the institution
- Demonstrative competencies with office technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline from a regionally accredited higher education institution, with five or more years of related professional experience
- Ten or more years of progressive administrative experience leading facilities operations within a complex, multi-unit higher education institution or similarly complex organization
- Professional Engineer License/Certificate
- Industry certifications such as LEED, stationary, or a mechanical engineer master's license
- Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to issues in Facilities Management
- Expertise in Life Cycle Cost Analysis
- An appreciation for true sustainable concepts incorporating both conservation and economics
- Experience working in a higher education environment and managing bargaining unit employees
- Experience working in a SUNY school
- Experience within an urban, comprehensive community college
- Experience in operations/management of an organization
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $120,000 to $140,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.

This position involves primarily sedentary work, including prolonged periods of computer use and keyboarding. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Occasional travel between campus buildings or to other local or out-of-town locations for meetings or conferences may be required.
