About Prado Provisions

Prado Provisions is the ground-level café and anchor of Sítio El Tropicano and its surrounding neighborhood. A lively all-day gathering spot, Prado offers grab-and-go provisions for every meal—pastries, quiche, salads, wraps, and sandwiches—alongside locally roasted coffee and the easy energy of the River Walk.

Position Summary

The Barista / Cashier prepares beverages, processes transactions, and provides welcoming service at Prado Provisions. This position also maintains the café’s pastry, grab-and-go, and retail displays.

Coffee & Guest Service

• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and other beverages according to approved recipes and presentation standards.
• Greet guests promptly, answer menu questions, and make recommendations based on their preferences.
• Monitor beverage quality and communicate calibration or equipment concerns to the Café Supervisor.
• Work accurately and efficiently during busy periods without compromising hospitality.

Café Operations

• Enter orders accurately and process approved payments and room charges through the POS.
• Stock and maintain pastry, refrigerated, grab-and-go, and retail displays.
• Check product freshness, labeling, and availability; report shortages or quality concerns.
• Clean and maintain coffee equipment, counters, service stations, and guest areas.
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and side work.

Standards & Conduct

• Follow food-safety, allergen, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service procedures.
• Maintain a professional appearance and work collaboratively with the café team.

Qualifications

• Café, coffee, cashier, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Ability to prepare consistent beverages and learn product ingredients.
• Strong guest-service, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Comfort using a POS and handling payments.
• Food Handler and TABC certifications required or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to perform frequent reaching and repetitive movements
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Reports To: Café Supervisor.
