Associate Investigator, Trust and Safety

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Investigator, Trust and Safety based in United States.

This role is an opportunity to help protect and strengthen a global online marketplace by identifying risks, investigating suspicious activity, and supporting a trusted user experience. As part of a collaborative Trust & Safety function, you will analyze user behavior, review transactions, and resolve complex cases that impact platform integrity. You will combine investigative skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities to address fraud, policy violations, and safety concerns. The position offers exposure to risk operations, fraud prevention, and marketplace safety practices in a fast-moving technology environment. You will work cross-functionally while helping create a safer and more reliable digital community for users worldwide.

Accountabilities:

The Associate Investigator, Trust and Safety will serve as a frontline contributor responsible for detecting risks, investigating platform activity, and maintaining a secure user environment. This role requires strong analytical judgment, operational discipline, and the ability to manage sensitive cases efficiently.

  • Manage high volumes of user inquiries through communication platforms, providing clear, professional responses while identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Review account, login, registration, and transaction fraud alerts to detect and prevent suspicious behavior.
  • Conduct investigations involving identity verification, payment activity, user behavior, and potential marketplace abuse.
  • Analyze user-generated content to ensure compliance with community standards, policies, and terms of service.
  • Handle global data deletion requests while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Research and document complex payment disputes and chargeback-related investigations.
  • Maintain detailed investigation records and contribute insights that improve trust and safety operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support operational improvements and risk mitigation initiatives.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings experience in trust and safety, risk operations, customer support, or a related investigative environment. They are analytical, detail-oriented, resilient, and passionate about creating safer online experiences.

  • 1–2 years of experience in Trust & Safety, Risk Operations, fraud prevention, customer support, or a similar field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify patterns, and make objective decisions.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • High emotional resilience and the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations.
  • Strong attention to confidentiality and discretion when managing user information.
  • Passion for improving online safety and protecting digital communities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing fraud trends, processes, and operational priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with distributed teams.
  • Experience using Google Sheets, CRM platforms, payment tools, or fraud detection systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as Stripe, Intercom, Forter, Sift, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Experience handling marketplace disputes or online platform investigations is a bonus.
