Purpose:

The Laborer will work to support operational objectives under the direction of the Superintendent by performing various general labor duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Attend and actively participate in morning safety meetings
Work as part of a crew
Take direction from supervisors
Complete assigned work activities

in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements
Focus on daily and weekly goals for the project with a high level of attention to detail
Lift and carry tools and materials
Rig loads and signal equipment operators
Load and unload trucks
Perform general clean up around the job site
Safely utilize hand tools to complete assigned tasks as required
Assist with material handling and storage as required
All other duties as assigned by Management

Experience:

1+ year of experience working as a general labor in the heavy/civil construction industry

Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of industry safety standards is required.

Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.

Ability to work for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.

Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, equipment.

Ability to thoroughly follow directions given by supervisors to complete assigned tasks.

Ability to work as part of a crew and to follow work orders or receive instructions.

Ability to focus on daily and weekly goals for the project.

Ability to work in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required

PPE includes but is not limited to: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed

Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another

Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height

Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time
Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
Ability to climb vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights
Ability to lift up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
Ability to carry up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to the elements
Ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions
Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required

Licenses or Certifications

Valid US state issued driver’s license preferred

OSHA 10 certification preferred

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred, but not required.

Travel

Travel required up to 100%
