Job Description

Title: TMR RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST

Reporting Relationship: This position reports directly to the Manager of Radiology at Box Butte General Hospital.

The Limited Scope X-Ray Operator performs diagnostic radiographic examinations within the scope of their licensure while providing safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. This position is responsible for obtaining quality diagnostic images as ordered by a licensed provider, maintaining patient safety, practicing radiation protection principles, and supporting the overall operations of the Imaging Department. The Temporary Radiographer works collaboratively with registered radiologic technologists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure timely and accurate patient care. These services are provided in an ethical, professional manner. A 30-day notice is required when this employee resigns from this position.

Essential clinical requirements for a tech aide:

  • Transport patients safely to and from the Imaging Department.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure rooms are clean and stocked.
  • Assist technologists with patient positioning and exam preparation.
  • Clean and disinfect imaging equipment and patient care areas.
  • Restock linens, contrast supplies, and department inventory.
  • Assist with scheduling, answering phones, and other clerical duties.
  • Enter patient information into the electronic medical record as appropriate.
  • Escort patients and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with moving patients using proper body mechanics and transfer equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
  • Perform limited diagnostic radiographic examinations within the scope of Nebraska licensure.
  • Follow physician orders and established imaging protocols.
  • Position patients and operate radiographic equipment safely.
  • Practice radiation safety principles, including ALARA.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Maintain image quality standards and repeat rate goals.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and imaging staff.
  • Report equipment concerns or safety issues promptly.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and continuing education activities.

Essential requirements of the imaging department:

  • Responsible for performing quality assurance and quality control procedures when necessary.
  • Communicates and interacts well with the staff, allied health care personnel, physicians, patients and the community, so as to project a positive image of the department and the hospital, and to coordinate quality patient care with special attention to patient age and needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the hospital related information.
  • Transport patients to and from various patients care areas being aware of individual patient needs.
  • Maintain and complete patient records and reports.
  • Report equipment concerns promptly to the appropriate service provider and imaging manager.
  • Maintain proper radiation protection for self and patients.
  • Flexible attitude and ability to adapt to every changing workload, with the willingness to cross-train into other modalities of imaging.
  • Participates in own performance evaluation by identifying individual goals and reviewing progress with department manager.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence by meeting annual requirements for validation of competency in specified skills.
  • Be alert and able to concentrate on work with many interruptions and have good memory retention for work and cases completed for the duration of shift and on call hours.
  • Follow the Standards of Behavior.
  • Participate in Patient Experience.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Available to attend all training and meetings assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

Required: High School Graduate or equivalent

Required: Currently enrolled in second year of Radiologic Technology school or new grad

Experience:

Required: Basic Computer skills

Required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Required: Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

License/Certifications:

Required: Must obtain Nebraska Temporary Medical Radiographer license

Preferred: BLS

Upon hire, you must provide a copy of the Immunization Record and disclose your current influenza immunization.
