Classification: Hourly / Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $12.14 per hour + tips
Position Summary
The AM Server is responsible for providing warm, attentive, and efficient service to guests during breakfast and lunch shifts at Meeker's Colorado Kitchen & Bar. This role creates a welcoming dining experience through menu knowledge, accurate order entry, timely service, and professional guest engagement. The AM Server follows Hilton brand standards, Meeker's service expectations, food safety requirements, and all operational procedures while supporting a clean, organized, and team-focused restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Hospitality
- Greet guests promptly and create a warm, welcoming first impression
- Provide attentive, professional service throughout breakfast and lunch
- Explain menu items, daily features, ingredients, and preparation methods accurately
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests or concerns
- Deliver service consistent with Meeker's motto: Casual Personality, Professional Service
Order Entry & POS Responsibilities
- Accurately enter food and beverage orders into the Agilysys point-of-sale system
- Review orders for accuracy, modifiers, allergies, and special requests before submission
- Process guest checks, room charges, credit cards, cash, discounts, and gratuities accurately
- Follow all cash-handling, payment security, and checkout procedures
- Maintain accountability for assigned bank, receipts, and end-of-shift paperwork
Breakfast & Lunch Service
- Set up and maintain assigned sections for breakfast and lunch service
- Serve plated meals, beverages, coffee, and other menu items in a timely manner
- Monitor table progress and coordinate with the kitchen to maintain proper service pacing
- Reset tables quickly and accurately to support efficient seating and guest flow
- Assist with buffet setup, replenishment, monitoring, and breakdown when applicable
Menu Knowledge & Sales
- Maintain current knowledge of menus, specials, allergens, and available substitutions
- Offer recommendations and use suggestive selling to enhance the guest experience
- Promote restaurant offerings, hotel amenities, and special events when appropriate
- Communicate guest allergies and dietary restrictions clearly to culinary team members
Teamwork & Operational Support
- Work closely with hosts, bussers, culinary staff, bartenders, and leadership
- Assist teammates with running food, clearing tables, refilling beverages, and side work
- Complete opening, running, and closing side-work assignments accurately
- Maintain stocked service stations, coffee areas, condiments, glassware, and supplies
- Support banquet, lobby, or other Food & Beverage operations when business needs require
Safety, Cleanliness & Compliance
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements
- Maintain clean and organized tables, service stations, dining areas, and workspaces
- Follow responsible alcohol service policies when serving alcoholic beverages
- Report equipment issues, safety hazards, guest incidents, or product concerns promptly
Required Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hotel, or customer service experience preferred
- Strong communication, hospitality, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn menus, service standards, and the Agilysys POS system
- Ability to manage multiple tables and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable attendance and ability to report for early morning shifts
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varying breakfast and lunch schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous breakfast or high-volume restaurant ser ving experience
- TIPS or other approved alcohol awareness training
- Food handler or ServSafe certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to carry trays and lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive service tasks
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced restaurant and hotel environment
