Director of Student Information and Learning Systems

ROLE SUMMARY:

Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School seeks a collaborative, highly technical leader to serve as its next Director of Student Information & Learning Systems (SILS). Reporting to the Senior Director of Technology, this role leads the school's Student Information & Learning Systems team and oversees the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of the technology ecosystem that supports the student lifecycle.

This leader will guide the school's transition from Maestro to Salesforce Education Cloud while ensuring the integrity, security, and optimization of student information systems, learning platforms, reporting infrastructure, and related technologies. Success requires a rare combination of technical depth, strategic thinking, and the ability to build trusted partnerships across the organization.

The Director leads a team of up to five professionals and collaborates closely with leaders across academics, registration, assessment, student services, finance, and technology to ensure systems proactively support teaching, learning, and operations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership

● Lead the strategic vision, roadmap, and continuous improvement of the school's student information and learning technology ecosystem, ensuring systems align with organizational priorities and operational needs.

● Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, strengthen data quality, and improve the experience of both staff and students.

● Identify opportunities to enhance business processes through technology, automation, and systems integration.

Systems & Technical Leadership

● Oversee the implementation, security, maintenance, optimization, and long-term health of the school's student information ecosystem.

● Lead the organization's transition and ongoing development of Salesforce Education Cloud.

● Partner with software developers and technical staff to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

● Oversee software development priorities while ensuring adherence to Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.

● Guide system integrations, APIs, authentication methods, reporting infrastructure, and data architecture.

● Ensure compliance with FERPA, OSSE, and other applicable data privacy and security requirements.

Stakeholder Partnership & Change Management

● Build trusted partnerships across departments that support the student lifecycle.

● Develop a deep understanding of departmental workflows, operational needs, and the "why" behind business processes.

● Lead stakeholder engagement efforts that ensure systems evolve alongside organizational needs.

● Shift the SILS team from a reactive support model to a proactive, customer-centered strategic partner for the school.

● Champion cross-functional collaboration, communication, and visibility across the organization.

● Serve as the primary liaison with vendors, consultants, and external technology partners.

Team Leadership

● Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to five professionals spanning business analysis, system administration, database management, reporting, and technical support.

● Build a collaborative, accountable, service-oriented culture through clear expectations, coaching, and performance management.

● Monitor team performance through meaningful KPIs and service metrics.

Operations & Vendor Management

● Oversee departmental budgeting, vendor contracts, procurement, and technology investments.

● Manage vendor relationships and ensure the successful delivery of technology initiatives.

● Establish documentation, SOPs, governance processes, and support models that improve consistency, efficiency, and service quality.

WHO YOU ARE:

● Thrives at the intersection of technology, operations, and people.

● Enjoys solving complex organizational problems through systems thinking.

● Balances technical expertise with strong business acumen.

● Builds trust quickly and develops collaborative relationships across departments.

● Leads with curiosity and seeks to understand the "why" behind business processes.

● Brings structure, accountability, and continuous improvement to teams.

● Communicates complex technical concepts in ways others can understand.

● Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.

● Believes great technology teams succeed by enabling others—not by operating in isolation.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

● 8+ years of progressively responsible experience leading enterprise information systems, educational technology platforms, or comparable business-critical systems.

● Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams.

● Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) principles.

● Experience managing enterprise software implementations, integrations, and system improvements.

● Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

● Working knowledge of SQL, databases, APIs, authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth), web services, and systems integrations.

● Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, and technology projects.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience supporting Student Information Systems such as PowerSchool, Banner, Colleague, Ellucian, Infinite Campus, or similar platforms.

● Salesforce or Salesforce Education Cloud experience.

● Experience working within K–12, higher education, adult education, or nonprofit environments.

● Knowledge of FERPA, OSSE reporting requirements, or similar education compliance standards.

● Must provide proof of Covid-19 Vaccination

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

● A competitive annual starting salary range of $125,000 - $140,000 commensurate with experience.

● 46 total days of time off (a combination of paid holidays, vacation, sick, and personal time) per year. This number increases over time.
