Job Description

At Index Exchange, we’re reinventing how digital advertising works—at scale. As a global advertising supply-side platform, we empower the world’s leading media owners and marketers to thrive in a programmatic, privacy-first ecosystem.

We’re a proud industry pioneer with over 20 years of experience accelerating the ad technology evolution. Our proprietary tech is trusted by some of the world’s largest brands and media owners and plays a crucial role in keeping the internet open, accessible, and largely free.

We process more than 550 billion real-time auctions every day (in comparison, Google processes 8.5 billion searches per day) with ultra-low latency. Our platform is vertically integrated from servers to networks and runs primarily on our own metal and cloud infrastructure. This end-to-end infrastructure is designed to provide both stability and agility, enabling us to adapt quickly as the market evolves.

At the core of it all is our engineering-first culture. Our engineers tackle internet-scale problems across tight-knit, global teams. From moving petabytes of data and optimizing with AI to making real-time infrastructure decisions, Indexers have the agency and influence to shape the future of advertising. We move fast, build thoughtfully, and stay grounded in our core values.

About the role:
We’re looking for a Senior AV Engineer to support own the full lifecycle of our AV and unified communications environment from designing and architecting meeting spaces of every size, to hands-on support of the platforms and hardware our teams rely on every day.

What we’re looking for:
We're looking for an experienced Audio Visual Engineer to join our IT department as the organization's primary AV Subject Matter Expert. In this role, you'll own the full lifecycle of our AV and unified communications environment from designing and architecting meeting spaces of every size, to hands-on support of the platforms and hardware our teams rely on every day.

This is a high-visibility, end-user-facing position. You'll partner closely with Network Engineering, mentor fellow IT team members, and deliver white-glove support to staff and executives alike. Whether you're commissioning a new Town Hall space, running a live corporate broadcast, or troubleshooting a Teams Room five minutes before an executive meeting, you'll be the person the organization trusts to make AV “just work.”

Based out of our Toronto office, this role includes regular travel to our Kitchener, ON office and periodic international travel to our European, APAC, and US offices with a primary focus on New York.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

Unified Communications
  • Serve as an experienced administrator for Microsoft Teams and Zoom, covering both desktop client experiences and the full Meeting Room ecosystem (hardware and software).
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms deployments, including certified peripherals, firmware lifecycle, room health monitoring, and proactive remediation.
  • Support consistent room configurations and user experiences across all global offices to help ensure consistency and reliability.
Digital Signage
  • Manage, deploy, and support our digital signage platforms, specifically Yodeck and BrightSign.
  • Support player provisioning, content scheduling infrastructure, platform updates, and troubleshooting across all office locations.

Network Integration
  • Apply a solid understanding of AV networking, including AV-over-IP, audio networking, multicast, VLAN segmentation, and QoS, to contribute to the design and support of networked AV systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with the internal Network Engineering team on network requirements, capacity planning, and troubleshooting for AV workloads.

Live Events & Broadcasts
  • Working with our events team - Coordinate, set up, and operate live corporate events, town halls, and hybrid broadcasts, including audio reinforcement, video switching, streaming, and presenter support.
  • Support technical execution during high-stakes live events, helping ensure smooth delivery and timely issue resolution under pressure.
Mentorship & Enablement
  • Help other IT team members build confidence with tier-1 AV tasks and basic troubleshooting.
  • Share knowledge through documentation and informal training, including runbooks, knowledge base articles, and quick-reference guides.

IT Crossover
  • Assist with general IT tasks and support requests when needed, contributing as a flexible, team-first member of the broader IT department.

Customer Service
  • Provide white-glove, end-user-facing support to staff at all levels, including executives and their assistants.
  • Deliver a calm, professional, service-oriented experience especially in time-sensitive or high-visibility situations.

Here's what you need:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in corporate AV engineering, integration, or a closely related role.
  • Expert-level administration experience with Microsoft Teams and Zoom, including Meeting Room platforms (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms) and their management consoles.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing AV systems across a range of room types, including large, complex spaces.
  • Working knowledge of AV networking concepts: AV-over-IP, Dante, multicast, VLANs, and QoS.
  • Experience deploying and supporting digital signage platforms (Yodeck and/or BrightSign strongly preferred).
  • Proven experience supporting live events and broadcasts in a corporate environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences and executives.
  • Composure under pressure: Demonstrated ability to stay calm, focused, and effective during live events and time-critical incidents.
  • Analytical troubleshooting: Strong, methodical diagnostic skills across audio, video, control, and network layers. Able to isolate root causes rather than treat symptoms.
  • Vendor management: Experience managing relationships with AV integrators, manufacturers, and service providers, including quoting, procurement, warranty, and escalation support.
  • Continuous learning: Genuine curiosity and a commitment to staying current with evolving AV, UC, and collaboration technologies.
  • Ownership and initiative: A self-starter who proactively identifies problems, drives improvements, and takes accountability for outcomes.
  • Documentation discipline: Habit of producing and maintaining clear, accurate documentation, diagrams, and knowledge articles.
  • Ability and willingness to travel: regular travel to Kitchener, ON, and periodic international travel to our European, APAC, and US offices (primarily New York). A valid passport is required.
  • Ability to lift and move AV equipment and perform occasional physical installation work (ladders, racks, cable pulls).

Preferred Skills
  • Industry certifications such as AVIXA CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I; Dante Certification (Level 2/3); Crestron; Extron; Q-SYS; or Microsoft Teams Rooms certifications.
  • Experience with AV control systems and DSP platforms (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp).
  • Experience with room booking and workplace technology platforms.
  • Exposure to enterprise IT fundamentals: identity and access management, endpoint management, ticketing systems (Jira), and ITIL-aligned processes.
  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python) for device management and monitoring.
  • Experience supporting a globally distributed, multi-office organization across time zones.

Salary: The base salary range for this role is $95,000 to $125,000 CAD. The total compensation package may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Why you’ll love working here:
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans for you and your dependents
  • Paid time off, health days, and personal obligation days plus flexible work schedules
  • Competitive retirement matching plans
  • Equity packages
  • Generous parental leave available to birthing, non-birthing, and adoptive parents
  • Annual well-being allowance plus fitness discounts and group wellness activities
  • Commuter benefits and discounts, where available
  • Employee assistance program
  • Mental health first aid program that provides an in-the-moment point of contact and reassurance
  • One day of volunteer time off per year and a donation-matching program
  • Monthly town halls and regular community-led team events
