Job Description
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Worker is a full-time, hands-on position responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and facility improvement projects across multiple company locations. This position is intended for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, comfortable working independently, and willing to perform a variety of maintenance tasks. Extensive specialized trade training is not required. Practical maintenance experience, problem-solving ability, reliability, and a willingness to learn are more important. The position requires regular travel between company locations. A company vehicle will be provided for work-related travel beginning in December. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform interior and exterior painting, including surface preparation, patching, and finishing.
- Perform drywall repairs, including patching holes, replacing damaged drywall, sanding, and preparing surfaces for paint.
- Replace and repair carpet, carpet tile, vinyl flooring, ceiling tile, and similar finishes.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs such as replacing faucets, toilet components, supply lines, drain components, and addressing minor leaks.
- Perform light electrical maintenance such as replacing switches, receptacles, light fixtures, lamps, and similar components within the employee’s level of training and authorization.
- Assemble, install, relocate, and repair furniture, shelving, equipment, signage, and other facility items.
- Perform minor carpentry and general building repairs.
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities and routine facility inspections.
- Respond to maintenance work orders and complete assigned repairs in a timely manner.
- Identify maintenance problems that require specialized contractors and report them to the Director of Facilities.
- Assist contractors and vendors when necessary.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas during and after maintenance projects.
- Perform occasional janitorial or cleanup duties when needed.
- Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, and other materials between locations.
- Perform other general facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Scheduling and Availability:
- Regular travel between company locations is required along with reliable transportation.
- The employee must maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with company requirements.
Qualifications:
- Previous general maintenance, construction, property maintenance, handyman, or similar hands-on experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of painting, drywall repair, flooring, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools and power tools.
- Mechanically inclined with good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks without constant supervision.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively with the Facilities Director, staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Willingness to learn new maintenance and repair skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel regularly between company locations.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with general facility maintenance.
Formal trade certification or extensive specialized technical training is not required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
- The position requires regular walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching, and working in various areas of company facilities.
- The employee must be able to safely lift, carry, move, and position tools, materials, furniture, and equipment associated with routine facility maintenance.
