Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Part-Time Recreational and Preschool Coach leads age-appropriate gymnastics classes, games, and activities for children ages 2 and older. This position creates a safe, positive, and engaging environment where children can build gymnastics skills, confidence, strength, and a love of movement.

Coaches must be dependable, enthusiastic, prepared, and able to communicate professionally with children, families, and coworkers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Implement approved lesson plans and skill progressions for recreational and preschool gymnastics programs

- Teach fundamental gymnastics shapes, skills, techniques, and terminology

- Adjust instruction and activities based on each child’s age, ability, and learning needs

- Lead energetic classes, games, and age-appropriate activities

- Maintain active supervision and know where each student is throughout class

- Follow all safety, spotting, equipment-use, and emergency procedures

- Keep classes organized, active, and moving at an appropriate pace

- Create a positive environment where children feel supported, included, and successful

- Evaluate student progress and follow the gym’s recreational advancement process

- Provide appropriate progress updates to parents and refer questions or concerns to the proper leader

- Maintain accurate attendance records, evaluations, and progress reports

- Set up, adjust, clean, and return equipment before and after each class

- Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility

- Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and coaching evaluations

- Work respectfully with coaches, front-desk staff, and leadership

- Support camps, open gyms, parties, special events, and substitute coaching when scheduled

- Ability to lead and participate in physical activities

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (athletes, equipment, etc.)

- Ability to implement fun, engaging lessons that teach fundamentals

- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills

- Must pass a background check prior to employment (if 18 or older)
