Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) based in Brazil.
This role is ideal for an SDET who sees quality as a fundamental part of software engineering, rather than a final step before release.
You will shape testing standards, automation practices, and quality strategies across products and services.
The position combines strong software development with hands-on expertise in automation, APIs, distributed systems, and end-to-end testing.
You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and delivery teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Your work will help teams release quickly while maintaining software that is reliable, secure, performant, and resilient.
You will have the opportunity to build and evolve automation frameworks, improve CI/CD integration, and strengthen regression coverage.
This is a collaborative, fast-paced environment suited to a curious and proactive engineer who enjoys challenging assumptions and improving how software is built.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks, either from scratch or by extending existing solutions, while ensuring they remain scalable, reusable, and maintainable.
- Define and uphold test quality standards and contribute to the overall testing strategy for one or more products or services, ensuring consistency and confidence throughout the release process.
- Develop high-quality integration and end-to-end automated tests that meet production engineering standards, alongside reusable test utilities, mocks, and simulators.
- Drive automated testing across contract, smoke, regression, and end-to-end scenarios, integrating frameworks effectively into CI/CD pipelines.
- Own the structure, health, and relevance of test suites and regression packs, continuously improving coverage while keeping them lean and valuable.
- Test front-end, back-end, API, and distributed microservice environments using modern tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Postman, and RestAssured.
- Plan and coordinate performance testing using tools such as K6 and JMeter, helping ensure systems meet expected performance and resilience standards.
- Partner closely with engineers, product managers, delivery leads, and other cross-functional stakeholders to embed quality from the beginning of the SDLC and ensure cross-team functionality is properly tested.
- Participate throughout the testing lifecycle, including exploratory and manual QA activities, issue investigation, change validation, and release sign-off.
- Investigate defects and production issues, identify root causes, and ensure fixes are properly validated through automated testing.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement by challenging existing approaches, identifying opportunities to optimize automation, and helping engineering teams adopt stronger quality practices.
- 4+ years of professional experience in test automation, with strong hands-on expertise in building and maintaining automation frameworks and API testing solutions rather than simply executing predefined tests.
- Strong proficiency in writing automated tests using TypeScript and solid experience designing and executing end-to-end testing strategies within Agile delivery environments.
- Demonstrated ability to embed quality early in the SDLC through close collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, Principal Engineers, Delivery Managers, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working within Agile continuous delivery teams, including coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to assess, prioritize, and resolve defects based on reproducibility, business impact, and release scope.
- Strong understanding of software quality principles, automation optimization, and continuous improvement, combined with a proactive approach to identifying better ways of working.
- A critical and analytical mindset, with curiosity and rigor when investigating failures, uncovering root causes, and evaluating test outcomes.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the confidence to constructively challenge technical and product decisions when necessary to protect software quality.
- Adaptability and ownership, with the ability to manage changing priorities in fast-paced environments while taking responsibility for the health of QA processes and overall quality outcomes.
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of broader product, business, and user objectives, along with a willingness to continuously learn as systems and technologies evolve.
- A degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is desirable.
- Certifications such as CSTAE, ASTQB ISTQB Advanced, or recognized automation testing certifications in technologies such as Cypress or Playwright are desirable.
- Familiarity with pipeline and event-driven architectures, including technologies such as Kafka, AWS EventBridge, AWS Step Functions, queues, streams, or SnapLogic, is an advantage.
- Competitive reward package designed to support financial wellbeing, physical health, and mental wellbeing.
- Opportunities for professional learning, development, and continuous growth.
- Recognition for individual contributions and impact.
- Benefits and reward offerings tailored to the role and location.
- Additional benefit details are provided as part of the application process.
- Collaborative environment that encourages employees to thrive both professionally and personally.
- Equal-opportunity workplace that values diverse backgrounds, identities, experiences, and perspectives.
