Job Description
SUMMARY:

The Quality Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining and advancing CMC’s Quality Management System while working closely with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other teams across the organization. This position is responsible for coordinating QMS documentation and document control, conducting internal audits, supporting inspection and product testing activities, analyzing quality data, and helping drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.
This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys combining auditing, data analysis, testing, and process improvement. The Quality Coordinator will have the opportunity to work directly with the processes and products behind CMC’s life-safety equipment while helping ensure our systems, documentation, and manufacturing practices meet the high standards expected by our customers and the professionals who rely on CMC equipment in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the organization, maintenance, review, revision, and reporting of CMC’s Quality Management System (QMS) documentation and Document Control System.
- Administer, maintain, and support continuous improvement of the UniPoint QMS, including document control, training, inspection, quality records, and related modules.
- Develop, write, revise, and maintain quality procedures, processes, work instructions, forms, inspection criteria, and other QMS documentation in collaboration with process owners.
- Manage inspection criteria, inspection records, and quality reporting within the QMS software to ensure information is accurate, current, and traceable.
- Analyze quality data to identify recurring defects, trends, supplier issues, process concerns, and opportunities for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of internal auditing principles, including objective evidence, audit findings, nonconformities, observations, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.
- Conduct internal QMS and process audits to evaluate compliance with established procedures, ISO 9001 requirements, and applicable company requirements.
- Perform manufacturing inspections and process reviews to verify compliance with approved specifications, procedures, work instructions, quality requirements, and applicable safety requirements.
- Document audit results, including objective evidence, observations, and nonconformities, and support corrective-action follow-up through verification of completion and effectiveness.
- Coordinate and maintain the QMS Training Program, including training procedures, records, assignments, and completion status.
- Collaborate with department leaders and process owners to develop and deploy quality and regulatory training content.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and report monthly Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to product quality, inspection performance, QMS effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and maintain the Approved Sample Program, ensuring approved samples are properly identified, controlled, maintained, and available to applicable departments.
- Support regulatory and certification activities, including ISO 9001 audits, external audits, certification activities, and site assessments.
- Provide quality support to Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Development, Supply Chain, and other departments by assisting with quality-related questions, documentation, inspections, investigations, and process improvements.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with all CMC policies, procedures, and applicable quality and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret general business forms, Engineering drawings, and government documents.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Must possess effective communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, and colleagues in both verbal and written form.
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects from many departments.
- Systematic thinker with strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education and experience)
- 4+ years of quality systems experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Quality Assurance or related field preferred
- Experience with ISO-9001:2015 preferred
- Familiarity with international regulatory requirements (NFPA, CE, ANSI, ASTM, FDA, UL and their international equivalents)
- Experience with Epicor (ERP) is a plus.
- ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or equivalent quality certification is preferred. Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other recognized continuous improvement training/certification is a plus.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Manufacturing experience is a plus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, with periodic activity in manufacturing, inspection, or warehouse areas as required. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, as well as use their hands to handle, operate, or manipulate objects, tools, equipment, and controls. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 20 pounds. Successful performance requires good eyesight with or without corrective lens. Requires extended periods of time working at a computer and includes phone work.
