This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President, Market Access based in the United States.
This executive role will lead the development and execution of the U.S. Market Access strategy in preparation for the anticipated launch of a therapy for relapsing multiple sclerosis. You will build a high-performing Market Access organization spanning payer strategy, pricing, contracting, reimbursement, distribution, analytics, and field capabilities. The position requires deep knowledge of the multiple sclerosis marketplace and established relationships across payers, PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and health systems. As a member of the Commercial Leadership Team, you will help shape the broader commercialization strategy and launch readiness. You will also establish the organizational structure, capabilities, and metrics needed to support long-term growth. This is an entrepreneurial leadership opportunity for an experienced pharmaceutical or biotechnology executive with proven specialty product launch expertise.
- Lead the U.S. Market Access strategy and organizational build for the anticipated product launch, covering pricing, contracting, reimbursement, and distribution.
- Develop integrated access strategies across commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, DoD, and other government healthcare channels.
- Own the national payer strategy and build strategic relationships with health plans, PBMs, integrated delivery networks, health systems, and specialty pharmacies.
- Develop compelling payer value propositions supported by clinical, economic, and real-world evidence to pursue favorable formulary positioning and patient access.
- Establish pricing strategy, gross-to-net assumptions, and specialty pharmacy, trade, and distribution frameworks to ensure launch-ready operations.
- Partner with Medical Affairs and HEOR teams on payer evidence strategies, AMCP dossiers, value communication, and post-launch evidence generation.
- Serve as a member of the Commercial Leadership Team, partnering with Marketing, Sales, Medical, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain functions to coordinate commercialization and launch readiness.
- Design and build the Market Access organization, including capabilities, operating models, and performance metrics across Payer Strategy, Market Access Marketing, Pricing and Contracting, Trade, Analytics, and Market Access Excellence.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a field-based Market Access organization including National, Federal, and Regional Account Managers and Field Reimbursement Managers.
- Establish field deployment strategies covering territories, hiring, training, incentives, and account engagement.
- Foster close collaboration between Market Access, Sales, and Medical Affairs teams to support product adoption and maximize patient access.
- Provide strategic leadership on evolving payer, reimbursement, specialty pharmacy, and healthcare system dynamics within the multiple sclerosis market.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; an MBA, PharmD, MPH, or other advanced degree is preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Demonstrated success leading U.S. Market Access organizations for specialty pharmaceutical products.
- Direct experience leading U.S. Market Access strategy for one or more multiple sclerosis product launches is strongly preferred.
- Significant leadership experience contributing to the commercialization of successful multiple sclerosis therapies is highly valued.
- Deep understanding of the multiple sclerosis competitive landscape, payer environment, specialty pharmacy networks, treatment centers, and reimbursement dynamics.
- Strong experience negotiating and developing relationships with commercial payers, PBMs, Medicare Part D plans, federal healthcare systems, specialty pharmacies, and integrated health systems.
- Demonstrated success building and leading field-based Market Access organizations.
- Experience establishing commercial infrastructure within an emerging biotechnology company or first-launch organization is strongly preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate market dynamics into actionable access and commercialization strategies.
- Proven ability to build organizations, recruit high-performing teams, establish operating models, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent executive communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment and build capabilities for both near-term launch execution and long-term commercial growth.
