Store Manager in Waynesboro, Tennessee at E.W. James and Sons

Position Summary: The Store Manager is responsible for the overall operation and success of a store, ensuring that all aspects of the store run efficiently and effectively. This role involves managing store staff, overseeing inventory and merchandising, and ensuring high standards of customer service. The Store Manager is accountable for achieving sales targets, maintaining store profitability, and upholding company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities: (Responsibilities may vary depending on assignment.)

· Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.

· Establish daily work assignments and priorities for store associates and management team.

· Responsible for operating within set budget. (Shrink, gross margin, sales, expenses, labor, etc.)

· Ensure that the reporting and investigation of customer and employee injuries are handled properly.

· Consistently reacts to performance issues with corrective action.

· Assists with stocking of product and facing of the store.

· Manage front-end operations (monitoring customer flow, opening registers as needed, and managing breaks/lunches)

· Perform basic housekeeping duties. (sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, etc.)

· Operates manual and electric (18+ years old) pallet jack.

· Receives and unloads truck deliveries.

· Manage health and safety, security, and emergency systems, capabilities and staff and customer awareness, according to company policy and relevant law.

· Manage upkeep and condition of all equipment, fixtures, etc. on premises.

· Maintain knowledge of total store operations.

· Ensures appropriate merchandise stock levels, adjacently and presentations, signage, and assortment in all departments; ensures sales floor is presentable and well stocked.

· Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store walks and meetings with dept. heads.

· Responsible for total employee lifecycle – interviews, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective actions, terminations, etc.

· Create schedules for associates.

· Process weekly timecard approvals and review associates' timecards daily.

· Maintain accurate records and documentation.

· Order grocery department and other departments as needed.

· Assists in carryout and cashier duties when needed.

· Any other responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment:

• May be exposed to all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, ice and wind) as well as, inside work with variations in heat, cold, dust, and humidity.
• Fast paced retail environment.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility:

• 10-60 associates.
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the store.
• Address complaints and concerns with associates.
• Responsible for interviews, onboarding, training, terminations, and performance evaluations.

Physical Requirements:

• Moves, lifts, and carries merchandise and supplies weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Frequently reaches overhead and below the knees, including pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting with or without bearing weight. Occasionally requires to climb and/or crawl.
• Stands or walks continuously throughout the shift.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Ability to effectively communicate with team members and customers.

· Ability to multi-task.

· Knowledge of supermarket math and basic computer and office skills.

· Knowledge of labor and food safety laws.

· Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, percentages, volume, etc.

· Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment required.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

· Minimum age requirement = 18 years old.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for Full Performance:

• Knowledge of store layout.
• Ability to turn in paperwork on time, completed, with accuracy.
• Knowledge of current policies and procedures and industry trends.
• Ability to process information and merchandise through computer system and register system.
• Knowledge of all basic functions of every position in the store.
• Ability to operate all equipment in the store.
