JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The IT Specialist provides advanced technical support and ensures the smooth operation of Tuerk House’s IT systems. This role includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, recommending system enhancements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and assigns work projects such as converting new computer hardware or software.
  • Evaluates expanding or enhanced computer operations; makes recommendations for improvement and upgrades to hardware and software to manage workload and system requirements.
  • Provides technical support identifying, investigating, and resolving users' problems with computer software and hardware for problems that are beyond the expertise of Technical Support Representatives.
  • Applies knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures to solve problems.
  • Collaborates with other employees to research and resolve problems.
  • Collaborates with programmers to explain errors and/or recommend modifications to computer programs.
  • Arranges service by software or hardware vendors to repair or replace defective products.
  • Develops and communicates department projects and goals.
  • Maintains knowledge of technological innovations and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and best practices to safeguard organizational data.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience, required.
  • At least two (2) to four (4) years of related experience required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior understanding of computer hardware and software systems.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical employees and customers.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn an array of computer hardware and software.
  • Personal belief in recovery and the recovery process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, clients, and the public.
  • High energy, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to engage clients flexibly based on their individual needs.
  • Respect for and maintenance of professional boundaries with all individuals.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and speaking English.

Background: This position requires successful background and drug test completion

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites in a day within the Greater Baltimore area
