Structural Engineer, Bridge Inspection - Team Leader

AI Engineers, Inc. (AIE) is looking for a Structural Engineer, Team Leader to join our Bridge Inspection and Design teams based in New Jersey and New York. This is an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, highly-organizedbridge inspection engineering professional to lead inspections, with the option to assist with load rating and design on new projects. The ideal candidate should possess a can-do attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative consulting firm. Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required
P.E. license in NJ or NY, preferred
5+ years of bridge inspection experience
Must have completed the NHI two (2) week Bridge Inspector training course and/or NHI Bridge Inspection Refresher course within the last 5 years.
Experience with Microsoft Office, MicroStation, and CombIS (Bentley AssetWise).
Bridge load rating and experience with LARS and/or AASHTOWare BrR is a plus.

Prior experience with NJ DOT, strongly preferred.
NHI course for NSTM/FCM, Scour, LRFR load rating, and Ancillary Highway Structure inspection is a plus.

Responsibilities
Bridge, tunnel, and ancillary structure inspections and load ratings
Preparing scheduling, writing inspection reports, assuring QA/QC, and assist with project coordination
Perform structural analyses, develop calculations, and prepare plans in accordance with federal, state, and local agency requirements.
Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and special provisions.
Site visits and onsite structure inspections.
Assist project managers with assignments including schedule and budget updates and proposal preparation
Perform engineering tasks related to bridge design projects and other transportation-related structural design and analysis projects as time allows
Design steel, concrete, and/or timber bridge elements, walls, and associated structures as time allows

Skills & Abilities:
A self-starter with the ability to work with project teams and manage multiple and concurrent tasks/assignments
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage the inspection duties in the field.
Data driven and detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Considerable knowledge of Architecture, Engineering, Construction inspection process and procedures.
Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner.
Ability and willingness to travel to work sites.
