The Lead Deburr Technician oversees daily operations of the deburr department, leading a growing team of 2–3 technicians. This role is responsible for tracking jobs through the department via job traveler, ensuring parts meet quality and finish specifications, and guiding and supporting the team's day-to-day work.
What you'll do· Lead and coordinate the daily work of 2–3 deburr technicians, assigning tasks based on job priority and due dates.
· Track job status through the deburr department using travelers.
· Perform hands-on deburring and finishing work using hand tools, power tools, the parts washer, and bag/box parts to turn into inventory.
· Remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects to ensure they meet blueprint/quality specifications. (Primarily aluminum/plastic parts)
· Train and mentor team members on proper deburring techniques, tool use, and safety practices.
· Maintain and organize deburr tools, and work area.
· Coordinate with machinists to resolve part issues or determine necessary rework.
· Enforce safety protocols within the department.
· Communicate job progress, delays, or bottlenecks to the Machine Shop Manager
Required Qualifications· One year of prior deburring/finishing experience in a machine shop preferably with aluminum and plastic parts, or comparable finishing/deburr experience.
· Auto Body detail experience may apply.
· Prior lead or informal supervisory experience preferred.
· Strong communication and organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand for extended periods.
· Manual dexterity for hand tools and power tools.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs.
