We are seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to join our Biomedical Engineering team. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, calibration, and quality assurance on a wide variety of biomedical and medical equipment, as well as associated electrical and mechanical systems.

This position reports to the Manager, Biomedical Engineering (MHO) and works under general supervision.
What You'll Do
As a Biomedical Equipment Technician, you will help ensure medical equipment operates safely and effectively for our patients and clinical teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on biomedical and patient care equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, test, and calibrate medical equipment and related electrical and mechanical systems.
- Use testing equipment to verify equipment safety, functionality, and performance.
- Analyze equipment failures, identify causes, make cost-effective repairs, and recommend replacement or alternative solutions when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, service requests, labor, and materials.
- Assist with the installation and setup of newly purchased medical equipment.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, departmental procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Support quality assurance and equipment performance by compiling and reviewing equipment data and trends.
- Assist with the evaluation of medical equipment prior to purchase.
- Provide equipment education and training to Biomedical Engineering team members, hospital associates, and physicians.
- Maintain tools, testing equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Complete special projects and other job-related assignments as needed.
Education & Experience
The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are normally acquired through:
- An Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field, OR an equivalent level of biomedical technology knowledge.
- 1–2 years of experience repairing and maintaining biomedical or medical equipment.
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) certification is preferred.

- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between work locations when required.
Work Environment
This is a hands-on technical position supporting medical equipment used throughout the healthcare environment.
Candidates should be comfortable:
- Working around medical equipment containing electrical energy.
- Responding to equipment issues in clinical environments, including situations where timely repairs are important to patient care.
- Working with equipment that may have been exposed to contaminated materials while following appropriate safety precautions.
- Working flexible hours when needed.
- Traveling to other work locations when required.
- Carrying tools, parts, and supplies.
- Climbing ladders and lifting or moving equipment as required.
- Performing detailed work involving small electrical and electronic components.
