SERVER ASSISTANT – JOIN OUR OPENING TEAM!

Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top | Avondale Estates, Georgia

$8.00 per hour + Tips

Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top is coming to The Dale in Avondale Estates, and we're building an exceptional Opening Team to bring two distinct but connected hospitality experiences to life. Ophelia Tavern will be a refined neighborhood gathering place serving Italian-inspired comfort food in a welcoming, no-fuss atmosphere. The menu features Italian tavern classics, including pizzas crisped in 600-degree ovens, fresh pastas tossed in scratch-made sauces, juicy house-ground burgers, thoughtfully prepared entrées and salads, and plenty of small plates made for sharing. With inviting indoor and patio seating, Ophelia pairs its food with handcrafted cocktails, a whiskey-forward bar program featuring a focus on Old Fashioneds, along with a well-rounded selection of beer and wine.

Located upstairs, Bar Top adds another dimension to the Ophelia experience. The rooftop bar features a spacious covered patio overlooking the Town Green at The Dale, a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space. Bar Top's menu features classic cocktails, creative mocktails, light bites, a wide selection of local draft and bottled beers, and curated wines.

We're looking for energetic, hardworking, and hospitality-driven Server Assistants to join our Opening Team. Our Server Assistants play an essential role in keeping service moving, supporting our Servers and Bartenders, maintaining tables throughout the guest experience, and making sure the dining room remains clean, organized, and ready for every guest.

At Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top, Server Assistants aren't just clearing tables. You'll be an active part of the service team—anticipating what guests and Servers need, maintaining tables throughout each course, assisting with food running and water service, resetting tables quickly and correctly, and helping create a smooth, polished dining experience from beginning to end. If you're dependable, quick on your feet, enjoy working as part of a team, and aren't afraid to stay busy, we'd love to meet you.

What We're Looking For
  • Previous restaurant, Server Assistant, Busser, or Food Runner experience preferred but not required
  • Energetic, hardworking, and team-oriented attitude
  • Strong sense of urgency during busy service periods
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of guests and fellow team members
  • Friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with guests
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail
  • Ability to follow direction and communicate effectively with Servers, Bartenders, Hosts, Managers, and kitchen team members
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing attention to detail
  • Dependable, punctual, and prepared for every scheduled shift
  • Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed
  • Ability to safely carry plates, glassware, trays, bus tubs, and other restaurant items
  • Ability to remain active and on your feet throughout the majority of the shift
  • Flexible availability, particularly evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
Position Responsibilities
  • Support Servers and Bartenders throughout service to help provide an exceptional guest experience
  • Greet and acknowledge guests professionally when interacting with tables
  • Assist with water service and refills
  • Maintain water levels throughout the guest experience
  • Pre-bus tables throughout each course rather than allowing unnecessary dishes and glassware to accumulate
  • Remove finished plates, glassware, silverware, and other items promptly and professionally
  • Maintain clean and organized tabletops throughout service
  • Reset tables quickly, completely, and according to restaurant standards
  • Ensure tables are properly stocked and prepared before guests are seated
  • Assist with running food to tables when needed
  • Learn table numbers, seat positions, and restaurant layout
  • Communicate clearly with Servers when guests request additional items or assistance
  • Assist Servers with condiments, sauces, silverware, plates, and other guest needs
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dining room, patio, Bar Top, and service areas
  • Clear and clean tables promptly after guests depart
  • Work closely with Hosts to help prepare tables for waiting guests
  • Assist with efficient table turns without making guests feel rushed
  • Keep service stations clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service
  • Restock glassware, silverware, napkins, plates, and other service items as assigned
  • Communicate spills, broken glass, safety concerns, or maintenance issues immediately
  • Complete assigned opening, running, and closing responsibilities
  • Support the entire Front of House team wherever needed
Table Maintenance & Service Standards

Great service doesn't happen because of one person—it takes an entire team working together. Our Server Assistants are expected to constantly monitor the dining room and look for opportunities to assist rather than waiting to be asked.

Throughout service, Server Assistants should be watching for:

  • Water glasses that need refilling
  • Finished plates that can be cleared
  • Empty or unnecessary glassware
  • Tables that need pre-bussing
  • Guests who may need assistance
  • Servers who need support
  • Food that needs to be delivered
  • Tables that need to be cleaned and reset
  • Service stations that need restocking
  • Floors, chairs, and surrounding areas that need attention

The goal is to help create a dining room that feels organized, attentive, and effortless to our guests—even when the restaurant is extremely busy.

Teamwork Matters

Server Assistants are an important connection between our Hosts, Servers, Bartenders, Managers, and kitchen team. We expect our Server Assistants to communicate, stay aware of what's happening around them, and step in when another team member needs assistance. You may be helping reset a table one moment, running food the next, refilling waters, clearing plates, restocking a service station, or helping prepare a table for the next reservation.

The strongest Server Assistants don't wait to be told every next step—they learn to recognize what needs to be done and take initiative.

Guest Experience Standards

Our Server Assistants are expected to:

  • Acknowledge guests warmly and professionally
  • Move with purpose while remaining composed in the dining room
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly set tables
  • Clear items professionally without interrupting the guest experience
  • Never reach unnecessarily across guests or interrupt conversations when clearing
  • Anticipate guest and Server needs
  • Communicate guest requests promptly to the appropriate team member
  • Maintain a clean and organized dining room throughout service
  • Work with urgency when turning and resetting tables
  • Represent Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top with professionalism, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality every shift

Monday–Friday: 5:00 PM–Close
Saturday & Sunday: 11:00 AM–Close

Applicants should have flexible availability, including:

  • Weekday evenings
  • Weekend daytime shifts
  • Weekend evenings
  • Holidays
  • Special events
  • Private events
  • Opening and closing responsibilities as scheduled

Availability during our busiest evening and weekend periods is especially important for this position.

What We Offer

  • Flexible scheduling
  • Employee dining benefits
  • Comprehensive Opening Team training
  • Positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Opportunities for advancement within Ophelia Tavern, Bar Top, and our growing restaurant group
Why Join Our Opening Team?

Joining an Opening Team is an opportunity to help establish the culture, service standards, and guest experience of a brand-new restaurant from day one. Server Assistants are an essential part of creating the level of service we want at Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top. We're looking for people who understand that there is always something to do in a restaurant and who take pride in noticing what needs attention before someone has to ask. This is also a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn full-service restaurant operations, strengthen their hospitality skills, and potentially grow into other Front of House positions as they gain experience.

If you're hardworking, dependable, quick on your feet, enjoy being part of a team, and want to help create a neighborhood destination guests return to again and again, we'd love to meet you.

Apply today and become part of the Opening Team at Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top!
