POSITION SUMMARY
We are a vibrant and diverse Admissions team seeking a personable, positive, and professional Admissions Counselor to provide temporary support to the department for approximately 3-6 months.
The Admissions Counselor develops knowledge of CIIS admissions practices, institutional policies, and academic program offerings in order to effectively recruit, advise, and support prospective students. The position works collaboratively with the Admissions team, academic programs, and other departments while providing timely and responsive support to prospective students throughout the admissions process.
The Admissions Counselor will represent assigned academic programs, explain admissions requirements and the application process to prospective students, and provide support from initial inquiry through enrollment. This role also participates in outreach, recruitment activities, admissions events, and other departmental priorities as needed.
This is a temporary assignment intended to provide additional support to the Admissions department based on current staffing and operational needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Outreach
- Collaborate with department chairs, Communications, Marketing, and Admissions team members on recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Assist with recruitment initiatives, including outreach campaigns, prospective student communications, travel, and drip marketing.
- Conduct outreach at recruitment fairs, community colleges, community events, and other recruitment activities.
- Support program-specific recruitment strategies and outreach efforts.
- Represent CIIS professionally and positively at on-campus, virtual, and external recruitment events.
- Attend and co-host online information sessions, including assisting with Q&A, Zoom setup, faculty coordination, presentation materials, and attendee follow-up.
- Lead or support presentations about CIIS and its academic programs, virtually and in person.
Department and Faculty Engagement
- Communicate with academic programs regarding enrollment activities and admissions-related questions.
- Assist with coordinating faculty participation in the admissions process, including applicant review and awareness of deadlines.
- Support faculty participation in Open Houses, information sessions, and yield activities.
- Communicate regularly with Admissions team members and supervisors regarding applicant activity, admissions trends, and departmental priorities.
Prospective Student Support
- Serve as a point of contact for prospective students regarding admissions and non-academic matters.
- Provide informed and timely guidance regarding CIIS programs, admissions requirements, the application process, and student life via phone, email, Zoom, and in person.
- Follow up with prospective students regarding questions, applications, and next steps.
- Determine when questions should be referred to faculty or other CIIS staff and make appropriate referrals.
Application and Enrollment Support
- Track prospective student engagement and application progress in Slate.
- Review applications for completeness and support the admissions review process.
- Monitor applicant files and follow up with applicants to encourage timely submission and completion.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of applicant materials in Slate.
- Assist with scholarship recommendations and related admissions processes, as applicable.
- Review inquiry and applicant trends to support recruitment and enrollment efforts.
Events and Yield Activities
- Assist with fall and spring Open Houses and other yield activities.
- Organize and participate in virtual and in-person Admissions events.
- Provide campus tours and support event logistics.
- Engage with prospective and admitted students during Admissions events.
- Assist with post-event follow-up and communications.
Transition and Enrollment Support
- Partner with Student Affairs, academic programs, and other departments to support communication and engagement with incoming students.
- Help facilitate a smooth transition from Admissions to academic and student support teams following enrollment.
- Team Collaboration
- Stay current on academic program information, admissions requirements, and relevant program updates.
- Support Admissions team members during high-volume periods and departmental coverage needs.
- Assist with short-term projects and departmental priorities as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and timely records related to assigned work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service skills; sales or recruitment skills desired.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with prospective students, faculty, staff, and colleagues.
- Ability to balance flexibility with adherence to institutional policies and ethical standards.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general workplace technology.
- Experience with student information systems (SIS), Slate, or other CRM systems preferred.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for recruitment and Admissions events.
- Ability to travel for recruitment activities, as needed.
- Two years of experience in admissions, recruitment, higher education, customer service, or equivalent experience preferred.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment with regular interaction and collaboration with prospective students, faculty, staff, and other members of the CIIS community.
The position requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adjust to changing departmental needs. Occasional remote work may be available based on departmental needs and the established work arrangement.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work under deadline pressure, sitting and standing for extended periods, oral and written communication, and computer and keyboard use for significant portions of the workday.
The position may also require pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and other physical activities associated with Admissions events, recruitment activities, and general office responsibilities.
LOCATION/SCHEDULE
This position is hybrid, with a requirement to work two days per week on campus at CIIS. The remaining workdays may be performed remotely, based on departmental needs and supervisor approval.
The position may also require additional on-campus attendance for Admissions events, meetings, recruitment activities, or other departmental needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

WAGES AND BENEFITS
$25.00 - $30.00 PER HOUR

- Working Conditions - Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday through Friday.
- Background Check - Due to the sensitivity and requirements of this position, you should expect to undergo and be cleared of an employment background/criminal check, if extended an offer for employment. You may also be asked to provide proof of educational degree(s), licenses, or credentials pertinent to the position. If your job requires driving on behalf of CIIS you will be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license.
