Team Lead - New Business

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Team Lead - New Business based in Canada.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a sales-driven insurance professional who is passionate about coaching, performance management, and team development. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team focused on helping Canadian small businesses secure the right commercial insurance solutions through a fast-paced, technology-enabled sales model. You will play a key role in driving revenue growth, improving conversion performance, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Working within a collaborative and innovative environment, you will leverage data, coaching, and industry expertise to support your team's success while contributing to the continued evolution of a modern, digital-first insurance operation.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of new business brokers focused on commercial insurance solutions for contractor clients.
  • Drive team performance by monitoring key metrics such as premium growth, conversion rates, response times, and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions, performance reviews, file audits, and one-on-one meetings to enhance sales effectiveness and service quality.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through motivation, accountability, and continuous feedback.
  • Guide team members through complex insurance scenarios and support decision-making on challenging risks.
  • Facilitate daily team huddles and training activities to promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements, operational efficiency, and business growth.
  • Ensure brokers effectively utilize internal technology platforms and tools to manage pipelines and deliver timely client solutions.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the insurance industry, with commercial insurance experience considered a strong asset.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising sales or brokerage teams.
  • Valid provincial insurance broker license; RIBO licensing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in driving team performance, achieving sales targets, and managing key business metrics.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management capabilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume sales environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Self-motivated professional committed to continuous learning and industry development.

  • Competitive base salary of CAD $75,000 – $90,000 annually.
  • Total on-target earnings (OTE) of approximately CAD $102,000, with top earning potential reaching CAD $115,000.
