Apartment Treatment Housing Counselor - Office of Mental Health (OMH)

Full-time hours. Schedule is as follows: Sunday 12-8p (Hybrid), Monday 10a-6p (Hybrid), Tuesday 9a-5p (In-office), Wednesday 12-8p (In-office), Thursday 10a-6p (In-office); off Friday & Saturdays

Salary: $25.46/hour

Based in Glen Cove, NY

In this role as an Apartment Treatment Housing Counselor, you will:

• Provide counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, assistance in negotiating community activities and crisis management services.
• Monitor, train and assist residents in all programs in household maintenance activities to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment. Directly participate in household maintenance activities when required.
• Provide training, supervision and assistance to residents in daily activities including food purchases, recreational activities, and meal planning and personal care activities.
• Assist residents in developing meaningful service plan goals and provide supports to assist residents in achieving their goals.
• Conduct fire safety training activities.
• Document interactions with residents in accordance with agency policies and standards.
• Meet weekly, or as scheduled, with assigned primary residents for counseling and to establish and review service plan goals.
• Assist residents in procuring and maintaining financial entitlements.
• Monitor medications as required.

This position as Apartment Treatment Housing Counselor requires:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have transportation and be able to travel through Nassau and Western Suffolk County.
• Experience in a mental health related field preferred.
