Life Line Collections Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Life Line Collections Specialist based in the United States.

This remote role is an opportunity to support patients in resolving outstanding healthcare-related accounts while contributing to an efficient and patient-focused revenue cycle.
You’ll communicate directly with patients, explain account balances, discuss payment options, and help identify practical solutions.
The position combines customer service, collections, documentation, and problem-solving in a professional healthcare environment.
You’ll manage an assigned portfolio of accounts and use available information and internal resources to determine appropriate next steps.
Success requires empathy, professionalism, resilience, and the ability to handle sensitive or challenging conversations with tact.

Candidates must be available to work the 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. CST shift based on business needs.

Accountabilities:
  • Conduct outbound calls to patients and consumers regarding delinquent or outstanding accounts in a professional, respectful, and efficient manner.
  • Notify consumers of outstanding balances, answer relevant questions, and solicit appropriate payment while maintaining a positive customer experience.
  • Receive and process payments by telephone and assist patients in discussing potential payment arrangements or available solutions.
  • Independently manage and follow up on assigned collection accounts, ensuring timely and consistent account activity.
  • Accurately document conversations, information received, payment activity, and call outcomes in the appropriate systems.
  • Assess situations and escalate calls to senior advisors, supervisors, or management when additional assistance or intervention is required.
  • Handle dissatisfied, frustrated, or difficult callers with patience, professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
  • Protect confidential information and perform all duties in accordance with applicable regulations, compliance requirements, and internal policies.
  • Use available systems, information, and resources to investigate account questions, resolve problems, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, events, and special projects while supporting broader team objectives.
  • Demonstrate the organization’s mission and values through professional, respectful, and patient-centered interactions.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Strong customer service skills and a genuine ability to communicate with people respectfully in sensitive situations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and confidently.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills, with the ability to navigate multiple systems while maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive customer and account information.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle disgruntled or challenging callers professionally, tactfully, and calmly.
  • Resourcefulness, independence, and sound problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and use available resources to resolve issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Previous collections experience is helpful but not required.
  • ACA certification is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work remotely while maintaining productivity, accountability, and reliable communication.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Must be available to work the 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. CST schedule due to business requirements.
