This is a required course for students majoring in Business and Management, Psychology, and Sociology. Each of these programs offers the course, and while each leans toward their own disciplinary conventions as reflected in the catalog descriptions in the bullet points below, students may take any version of the course in order to satisfy the requirement.
The openings in our schedule are currently listed under Psychology (PSY 141). However, the possibility exists to teach the course within Sociology (SOC 141) or Business and Management (MGMT 141).

Wheaton College (MA) invites applications for a part-time affiliated instructor to teach one or two sections of Statistics for the Social Sciences during the Fall 2026 semester.
The sections available meet at the following days/times:
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday, 9:30 AM – 10:20 AM
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday, 10:30 AM – 11:20 AM

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Teaching effectively in an in-person environment that fosters meaningful student-faculty interaction.
- Creating a course syllabus (with assistance, if desired) and ensuring it is provided to students and posted on the course’s Canvas site.
- Selecting and ordering textbooks and/or procuring other required course materials before classes begin.
- Grading assignments in a timely manner and posting grades in Canvas.
- Holding regular office hours and being responsive to student needs.
Important Dates and Information
- Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
- Finalists will be contacted for an interview after their applications have been reviewed. and will be asked to provide names and contact information for references.
- Candidates may be asked to provide references following the interview.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in relevant field.
- Prior relevant teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in relevant field.
- Prior experience teaching statistics, ideally to students in the social sciences.
Compensation and Benefits:

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $5,000/course, to be paid over 5 months at $1,000 per month.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience of the candidate.
