SUMMARY
Performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties and performs various tasks concerning patient records maintained in the RIS/PACS systems in the radiology department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Duties:
• Greets all departmental visitors to ensure that accurate and efficient departmental communications is facilitated through positive and expedient action.
• Answers telephone according to hospital policy in a courteous manner expressing a greeting to the caller and identifying self and department.
• Schedules patients in the RIS according to established procedures.
• Utilizes RIS to locate and print radiology reports.
• Sorts and prepares reports for distribution.
• Digitizes outside films to be loaded into PACS.
• Telephones call reports as requested.
• Prints images and creates CD/DVDs from PACS as requested to leave the radiology department.
• Records all image/CD/DVD requests in RIS.
• Scans all necessary forms or documents into PACS.
• Transports contrast media and non-narcotic medication upon request.
• Escorts outpatients to and from Radiology.
• Provides Services Excellence by using the “AIDET“Technique: Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank You.
• Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with all coworkers and guests.
• Recognizes when others are in need of assistance and consistently offers to help when own workload permits or finds someone who can.
• Demonstrates competency in the use of RIS/PACS, and any other information systems as required.
• Maintains patient confidentially and is aware of patient rights.
• Keeps immediate supervisor informed of any unusual concerns.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
Experience in a healthcare setting helpful but not essential. Medical terminology helpful.
