Direct Support Professional in Woodbridge, Virginia at Arc of Greater Prince William

Location: This position is based in a DBHDS-licensed residential group home in Woodbridge, Virginia 22191.
Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week
Schedule: Sunday – Wednesday, 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour

The Arc of Greater Prince William/INSIGHT, Inc. is seeking a dependable and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide overnight support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in one of our residential group homes located in Woodbridge, VA 22191.

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the DSP provides direct care and support while promoting each individual's independence, dignity, personal choice, safety, and community inclusion. Services are provided in a person-centered manner consistent with Individual Support Plans (ISPs), DBHDS regulations, and organizational policies.

• Provide direct care and support in accordance with each individual's ISP and Person-Centered Plan.
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, and household responsibilities.
• Promote independence, personal choice, dignity, and meaningful participation in daily activities.
• Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of individuals throughout the overnight shift.
• Monitor and respond appropriately to medical or behavioral needs and emergencies.
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, Medication Administration Training (MAT) requirements, and DBHDS regulations, when certified.
• Implement behavior support plans and approved crisis intervention procedures.
• Accurately complete required daily documentation, progress notes, and data collection using THERAP.
• Immediately report incidents, injuries, unusual occurrences, and suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in accordance with organizational policy and applicable requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable residential environment.
• Provide safe and reliable transportation using agency vehicles as needed.
• Maintain professional boundaries and respectful relationships with individuals, families, coworkers, and community partners.
• Participate in required meetings, supervision, and training.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working at other program locations when needed.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record of at least three years driving in the United States.
• Ability to safely operate an agency vehicle, including a medium-sized bus and/or van.
• Successful completion of required criminal background checks.
• Completion of TB screening and other required health requirements.
• Ability to complete all required training, including CPR, First Aid, AED, and Medication Administration Training (MAT), as applicable.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems such as THERAP.
• Ability to assist individuals with personal care, hygiene, household responsibilities, and medical needs while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Must demonstrate patience, empathy, sound judgment, dependability, and professionalism.

Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical functions necessary to provide direct support, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, and climbing stairs. Employees must also be physically able to perform CPR, AED, and First Aid when required.
