Associate General Counsel

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Associate General Counsel based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to serve as a strategic legal partner within a fast-growing technology environment.
You will provide practical counsel across commercial, employment, privacy, compliance, and governance matters.
The position requires a business-minded attorney who can navigate complex legal challenges while enabling growth.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders across sales, finance, product, engineering, and operations.
The ideal candidate will combine strong legal expertise with an innovative mindset and interest in AI-enabled legal solutions.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys building scalable processes and improving how legal teams operate.

Accountabilities:

The Associate General Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support across business operations, helping teams make informed decisions while managing risk effectively. This role requires strong judgment, commercial awareness, and the ability to deliver practical solutions in a dynamic technology-driven environment.

  • Negotiate, draft, review, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements, technology agreements, licensing contracts, partnership agreements, procurement documents, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to business leaders and sales teams while balancing commercial objectives with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise People and HR teams on employment matters, including recruitment, compensation, employee relations, workforce initiatives, and employment documentation.
  • Develop and maintain legal processes, templates, playbooks, and policies that improve efficiency, consistency, and risk management.
  • Support legal operations through the use of AI-enabled tools, automation technologies, and workflow improvements to enhance productivity.
  • Advise on privacy, data protection, AI governance, compliance initiatives, and enterprise risk management matters.
  • Support corporate governance activities, entity management, regulatory filings, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to address legal issues, support strategic initiatives, and improve overall business outcomes.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors and contribute to special projects involving compliance, procurement, disputes, and operational improvements.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced attorney with strong commercial legal expertise, excellent business judgment, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • 10+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department supporting business operations.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Significant experience negotiating and interpreting commercial contracts, including SaaS, licensing, and technology agreements.
  • Experience advising on employment law matters and partnering with HR or People teams.
  • Strong understanding of privacy, compliance, corporate governance, and risk management considerations.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools, automation solutions, or legal technology platforms to improve legal workflows and service delivery.
  • Ability to responsibly evaluate and apply emerging technologies while maintaining confidentiality and sound legal judgment.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice and influence stakeholders across different functions.
  • Experience working with tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, DocuSign, Teams, and related workplace technologies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in SaaS, eCommerce, technology companies, or global organizations is preferred.

  • Competitive base salary range of $185,000–$260,000 per year.
