Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Site Director is responsible for supporting the safety, security, and well-being of every child enrolled in the

ASES/ELOP program. This position assists with the overall management and daily operation of the Klassic Kids Extended

Learning site and provides direct program oversight when the Site Director is absent, for up to 10 consecutive days.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

● Oversee day-to-day activities while maintaining required ASES/ELOP ratios.

● Maintain the safety, security, and overall well-being of every child enrolled.

● Assist the Site Director in creating diverse, age-appropriate arts, crafts, recreation, and homework

activities.

● Apply positive behavior supports and communicate concerns to the Site Director.

● Support and maintain enrollment information.

● Help keep the program space organized and welcoming.

● Work at least 80% of scheduled program hours.

● Ensure compliance with ASES/ELOP regulations and all Harmonium/Klassic Kids policies.

● Participate in trainings and meetings as requested.

● Perform administrative duties for up to 10 consecutive days when the Site Director is absent.

JOB COMPLEXITY

● Assist in creating activities that match the age and interests of enrolled children.

● Maintain the safety, security, and well-being of all students.

● Demonstrate working knowledge of program flow, expectations, and procedures.

● Oversee day-to-day operations while following contract requirements.

● Assist with ensuring student-staff ratios are met at all times.

● Help implement arts & crafts, sports, recreation, homework assistance, and enrichment activities.

● Assist with electronic attendance, snack procedures, and enrollment documentation.

● Create and lead clubs, activities, and curriculum aligned with program goals.

● Work effectively across all program service areas for Agency wide effective communication and

operations.

● Under HR’s direction will participate in preparing and reviewing in any legal related matters.

STAFF SUPERVISION

● No supervisory responsibilities unless the Site Director is absent (up to 10 business days).

COMMUNICATION

● Maintain strong, professional relationships with school personnel, parents, children, and Harmonium

staff.

● Provide consistent communication with parents regarding their child each day.

AGENCY LEADERSHIP

● Act as a positive role model for staff.

● Offer guidance on interacting with internal and external customers when the Site Director is not on duty.

● Provide input on Harmonium and program policies when requested.

● Maintain consistent communication with parents

DECISION MAKING

● Ensure decisions follow Harmonium policies, program guidelines, and ASES/ELOP contract requirements.

MINIMUM COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

● Must be 18 years of age

● Must have 48 completed college units OR pass the District’s Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (a

basic math and literacy exam)

● Must have either a minimum of 6 completed units in child development, elementary and/or middle

school education, recreation, or related field OR a minimum of 6 months documented work experience

in an ASES program

● A minimum of 1 year of experience working in an after-school or group childcare setting with

elementary-aged children

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY

● Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests, hobbies, and/or arts and crafts

● Ability to relate well to children and adults

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS UPON HIRE

● Valid CPR and First Aid certification

● Valid TB results (required every 4 years)

● Must receive Fingerprint Clearance (paid by Harmonium)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Ability to actively supervise and roam designated areas at all times to ensure a direct line of sight of all

students, including but not limited to:

○ Standing, walking, and moving for extended periods of time throughout the shift

● In the case of elopement, or a student leaving their designated area, the ability to promptly follow and

safely return the student to their designated area

● Ability to operate a vehicle

● High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks

● Ability to work in a noisy and outdoor environment

● Ability to travel throughout the county with the flexibility required to meet job duties

● Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping, i.e., desk and computer functions

● Ability to sit for prolonged periods

● Ability to lift and carry up to twenty pounds

● Ability to operate a computer
