DEPARTMENT: Warehouse

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Driver - DOT & CDL License position is critical to ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods across various regions within the United States. This role requires operating commercial motor vehicles in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and maintaining a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL). The driver will be responsible for managing delivery schedules, performing vehicle inspections, and ensuring cargo is secured properly to prevent damage or loss. This position demands a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to protect both the driver and the public. Ultimately, the role contributes to the efficient supply chain operations by delivering products reliably and maintaining excellent communication with dispatch and customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate trucks or other vehicles to more product within the warehouse and to external locations
  • Load and unload products, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage
  • Operate manual loading equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts
  • Use handheld scanners to accurately track inventory movements between warehouses
  • Ensure proper weight distribution inside trailers, arrange goods according to safety and transportation guidelines
  • Perform daily truck inspection and report any issues to our maintenance department
  • Maintain a clean and organized loading dock area, cleaning debris and obstacles to ensure a safe working environment
  • Keep trucks and trailers clean and free of debris
  • Perform weekly cycle counts on all trailers

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securement to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and delivery records as required by law and company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that arise during transport.

  • Safety Responsibilities:
  • Supports a culture where employees address unsafe conditions and behaviors, make suggestions for improvements, and actively participates in implementing solutions
  • Identifies safety gaps and self-initiates corrective actions
  • Strictly adheres to plant safety, housekeeping, and 5S efforts
  • Understands, identifies, and corrects safety hazards
  • Drives a culture which empowers employees to understand and embrace what they own
  • Food Safety Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.
  • Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures
  • Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong driving skills with a clean driving record
  • Must possess a CDL class A license
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask and communicate professionally with drivers, vendors and team members

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50lbs, perform team lift when required.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and perform manual labor as required.
  • Ability to enter and exist truck several times a day.
