GECAC, the largest anti-poverty organization in Erie County, PA, is seeking a Senior Center Director at the North East Senior Center in Fairview, PA. With a budget of approximately $12 million and more than 110 staff, we help people and change lives daily. GECAC helps people throughout Erie County break the cycle of poverty, become self-sufficient, and achieve financial independence. Will you join our team?

This rewarding Full-time Assistant position is Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (7.5 hours daily)

Job Summary

GECAC is hiring for the position of Senior Center Director, North East Senior Center, in the Area Agency on Aging. This individual performs administrative, management, and supervisory duties for the Center Services program within the Area Agency on Aging, working in close collaboration with the AAA Center Services Supervisor, AAA Division Manager, and AAA Assistant Division Manager.

Qualified applicants will plan, organize, and implement an array of services in a senior citizen center. Responsible for the supervision of center-based volunteers and staff, where applicable. Coordinates a variety of programs; acts as facilitator for food services and transportation as they relate to Centers. Performs outreach activities to the elderly in their homes.

Must have good communication & outreach skills and know community resources. Also must have the ability to document & maintain client records and complete monthly reports in line with established procedures.

This position will research new and innovative approaches for program enhancement; implement program objectives, center goals, and agency policies. Ability to follow agency instructions and guidelines; ability to complete reports and other necessary forms; knowledgeable of the needs of the elderly; ability to plan and organize a wide variety of activities; skills in arts and crafts and office practice. Knowledge of Medicare and other supplemental insurance requirements is beneficial.

Must have a valid PA driver’s license, full-time access to a private automobile, and auto insurance as required by the agency. Must meet Immigration Law requirements. Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances issued within the previous year are required. Also, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) check is required when a worker has not lived in Pennsylvania for the past two years.

Budgeted range is $23.10/hour to $24.35/hour based on education and related experience. Deadline: Until filled.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Human Services and 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Good management and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and assess staff performance.
  • Ability to plan, develop, monitor, and implement program activities and budgets.
  • Ability to prepare reports, interpret, and follow funding source and agency instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to conduct meetings. Demonstrate interest in the needs of the elderly. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams.
  • The ability to operate a computer in a Windows environment is essential.
  • Familiarity with Zoom, PDF editing software, as well as experience effectively working remotely is desired.
  • Must have enough knowledge to successfully complete the technical skills of the position.
