Job Description
As a trusted national architecture/engineering/construction consulting firm, Marx Okubo works with real estate owners, investors and lenders—at every point of the property lifecycle—to evaluate their building projects, solve complex challenges and implement tailored solutions. We're building our project team in Denver, seeking a Senior Associate ArchitectOur work covers most commercial building types, including office, retail, industrial, hotel/hospitality, and multi-family; focus on industrial and commercial (office, high rise multifamily) structure.
Essential FunctionsAct as a technical team member and project lead Collaborate with the client, internal team, consultants and site contactTake full ownership for an overall understanding of all aspects of a project relative to its scope, technical accuracy, potential risk, and client requirementsReview and analyze building construction and conditionReview and analyze contract documents including drawings, specifications, contracts, and budgetsPerform building evaluations, construction monitoring, and construction administration Prepare reports of findings that are formal, detailed, and comprehensiveBuild relationships and develop businessSite visits as needed, locally and regionally, in the range of 25-50%
Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceBachelor's degree or higher in architecture or related field Minimum 15 years' industry related experience at an architecture, engineering or construction companyRegistered Architect in ColoradoDemonstrated experience in construction administration, owner’s representation or project management Construction monitoring and/or construction administration experience is highly valuedThorough understanding of construction processes, sequence, and activitiesStrong technical skills in commercial construction are a must, including regional code and building enclosure knowledgeForensic/investigative experienceTechnical level of understanding of building types Solid understanding of building materials and methodsKnowledge of construction contract types and forms Communication is vital in all forms - Providing clear information both verbally and written, catered to the target audience, that demonstrates your knowledge, expertise, and problem-solving capabilitiesDemonstrated experience meeting deadlines on fast-paced projects, remaining organized, and managing time efficientlyWorking knowledge of accessibility standards (FFHA and ADA) is preferredSoftware proficiency in any of the following: Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGridDesire for potential growth in leadership and management, with demonstrable leadership skillsWillingness to travel 25-50% in and out of state as needed
